Service Hours Opportunity!
Discovery Charter School is in need of volunteers for their Spring Carnival, Owlapalooza. This will take place on Friday, April 19th and volunteers will be needed from 4:30pm-7:30pm. Contact Kristine Kise at kkise@dcslv.org to sign up. (4/18)

International Travel Opportunities for 2025: Australia/New Zealand and Costa Rica!
Interested in traveling internationally with Faith Lutheran over Spring Break or Summer in 2025? Our new locations with our partner travel company, ACIS, were recently announced and signups have begun. Both trips are available for all students who will be in 9-12 grade next school year, 2024-2025. The Summer trip is available for next year's 8th graders, as well. Informational meetings will be held in person and over Zoom in the coming weeks- check your email!
Both trips will be open for registration until they reach 35 student participants, so register soon if you are interested, before we fill-up! Only a deposit is required at the time of registration! Please email alex.klenz@flhsemail.org or giesekeg@flhsemail.org for more information.

The American Suicide Prevention Foundation focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide through prevention programs, public education, and support for those who have lost someone to suicide. Each state chapter hosts an annual walk to raise awareness about suicide and the help available through the foundation. The Southern Nevada walk will be held next month and they would love to have Faith students participate.

2023/2024 School Year

If you are planning on participating in High School Sports, please complete your Aktivate registration for the 2023/2024 school year ASAP. The website is as follows: aktivate.com
HS Sports Physicals – Please use NEW NIAA Physical forms as of 4/1/23:
You can obtain the most current physical forms/instructions from Crusader Connect, Resources Page, under MS/HS Sports Registration Information.
Aktivate Instructions/NIAA New Physical forms to be used effective 4/1/23
Please do not use the physical forms provided by the doctor’s office. They are usually not current and will be rejected.
--Physicals expire 12 months from the date of the doctor’s signature. –Up to date physicals are required for the 2023/2024 school year. It is recommended to schedule your physical in June or July so it’s good for the whole year.
--All completed physicals must be uploaded into Aktivate for approval. –If your athlete’s physical expires before or during the season, they will not be allowed to try out for a team. Example: Your child is trying out for a fall sport, your previously completed physical was done on 11/10/22. The physical expired as of 11/10/23. It will not be valid for the 2023/2024 Fall season since it expires during the Fall season. A new physical must be obtained before the season in order for your athlete to tryout for their Fall sport.

Pickleball Club meets Tuesdays, after school until 4pm at the northwest tennis courts by baseball field. Hope to see you there!
Middle School Art Club is a place for students who like to make art and create things to hang out, try new materials, techniques, and processes without the worry of grades or deadlines. Our meetings are held on Wednesdays each month from 3:20 to 4:45 in Room 101. Long meetings allow plenty of time for drawing, painting, socializing, and clean-up. Students can learn a new technique, join a group project, or be self-directed in their art-making. This club is all about hanging out with a creative community to create art and make friends. A one-time Membership Fee ($15) is collected annually for supplies & snacks for special activities throughout the year. Students are welcome to bring their own snack and a drink each week. 7th and 8th grade working lunch
7th and 8th grade working lunch will be held every Monday and Wednesday. This is a time to work on school work or study for a test, etc. If you would like to attend a working lunch, you must fill out this form ahead of time and bring your own lunch. Students will come to room 501 with their lunch and will stay the entire lunch period. Working lunch is limited to 25 students each lunch.

DEVOTIONS
Today’s Reading: Acts 3:11-21

And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all. (Acts 3:16)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Jesus’s healing miracles can sometimes make us feel less than. They can make us feel left out or unimportant. Why does this person get to be healed, and here I am, still suffering from the thing I’ve prayed over and over again for God to heal or take away? Why doesn’t He do for me what He does for these people in the Bible, like the disabled man Peter healed?
That’s a complicated answer beyond this brief page. But this fact remains: that man may have been healed, but he did eventually die. And that’s the thing about us all; we will all die unless Jesus returns first.
But that is where the comfort of this text comes in. We will all surely die, but we will also all be surely raised on the Last Day. And the faith that we have in Jesus now will lead to perfect health in the life of the world to come, and that life never ends.
That life is one that lasts forever. That perfect health will last forever. That newly-resurrected body will never give you the problems it does now.
Your Baptism created within you the faith that gives perfect health. Your Baptism gave you life everlasting. It is something you have right now. You may not see or feel it, but that is Jesus’s promise to you: by virtue of your Baptism, you now have eternal life and you now live forever.
You can’t see the fullness of that just yet, none of us can, but it is yours. Oh, sure, your sinful flesh will want to deny that every single day. “There’s no way I can have eternal life, just look at me!”
No! Jesus has said to you in your Baptism that you indeed are recreated to live forever. The promise of His Word, given through Holy Scripture backs that up. He has declared it, and you trust His Word, given into your ears.
That’s what faith is; trust created in you by Jesus to hear and believe His promises for you. Perfect healing is yours. Life forever is yours. Everlasting comfort is yours. Because of Jesus, because He loves you and wants you with Him forever. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
