In making your car decision, some will elect a Hyundai when a Lexus is available. In making a restaurant choice, some will choose McDonald’s over Delmonico’s. But when it comes to education, we cannot afford to short-change our students.
Our goal at Faith Lutheran is to provide a world-class education, not one that is simply better than what is locally available. We believe that student access to technology is a critical component of a digital age education. For several years, Faith has provided an improving student to computer ratio. With our 1:1 Apple laptop program in the high school, we have made great progress toward providing our students with the very best tools to learn and grow. All of our high school students will have Macbooks or Macbook Airs this year. All of our middle school students have iPads. Students will also have access to our four Apple iMac labs. When asked what outcome I wanted as a result of the 1:1 program, my answer was quick and straight forward: I want technology to be the lever for classroom instruction that is more student centered, collaborative, project-based and focused on higher order thinking skills.

We believe the marketplace is demanding such skills.  We are proud of the technological resources our faculty and students have at their disposal to further the learning of our students.

Apple Distinguished Schools are K–20 schools that provide 24/7, schoolwide, one-to-one access to Apple notebook computers and/or mobile devices to all students, teachers, and administrators. They demonstrate an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic accomplishment.

Faith Lutheran Middle School and High School is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2013 to 2015 for creating a flexible learning environment where learning can happen anytime, anywhere.    Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School has 1:1 iPad integration in their Middle School and 1:1 MacBook integration in the High School.

The Apple Distinguished School designation is reserved for programs that meet criteria for innovation, leadership, and educational excellence, and demonstrate Apple’s vision of exemplary learning environments.

Dr. Steve Buuck responded, ”We are honored by this distinction, and I am grateful and amazed at how our faculty and students have embraced technology as a tool to leverage learning in the classroom and beyond.”

The selection of Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School as an Apple Distinguished School highlights our success as an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic accomplishment.  Teachers are using technology to prepare students for their future.  At Faith Lutheran we are continually working on developing innovative teaching and learning techniques whether it be through the incorporation of technology in our 1:1 programs or through the creation of new academic programs.  The administration works hard to put our teachers and students in situations to be successful and innovative.
