Williams Research Greenhouse

Welcome to The Williams Research Greenhouse, a state-of-the-art, 3,200 square foot, soil and soil-less crop facility designed for 6-12 grade use. Conceived by students and modeled after facilities at UC Davis and the University of Arizona, Tucson, our students' contagious vision inspired a place where they can develop, build, grow, problem solve and share projects with each other and the community. Produce is donated to Catholic Charities, sold in the school office and at special events throughout the year. 100% of sales benefit our Special Education Mark 10:14 Program.

History

In 2014, a group of students approached High School Principal, Scott Fogo, about the potential for a greenhouse to be incorporated into our Mark 10:14 Special Education curriculum. This intrigued Mr. Fogo to the point that he assembled a student-faculty team to research what this might look like. During the 2015-2016 school year, this team toured local farms and greenhouses as well as those at UC Davis and the University of Arizona, Tucson.  They returned with a contagious vision.

The student-faculty team quickly widened into subcommittees to design the interior, exterior and heart of what the project was to capture. In 2017, they submitted their proposal to the administration and the teams spread out across the valley and raised $300,000 in donations. In January 2018 construction began with the greenhouse shovel ready in August 2018.
