The American Suicide Prevention Foundation focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide through prevention programs, public education, and support for those who have lost someone to suicide. Each state chapter hosts an annual walk to raise awareness about suicide and the help available through the foundation. The Southern Nevada walk will be held next month and they would love to have Faith students participate.

Tri-M Music Honor Society is incredibly excited to announce in celebration of Music In Our Schools Month, there will be a Kahoot during Advisory on Wednesday, March 27, with the winning Advisory receiving doughnuts at a later date. There will be an Information Table on Monday, March 25, in the Amphitheater during lunch where students can learn more about music opportunities at Faith and can play an instrument guessing game to win additional prizes. Free Heart Screening:
There will be a free heart screening for athletes ages between 14 to 25

WHY YOU SHOULD REGISTER TO GET YOUR HEART CHECKED:
- 96% of the standard wellness check (physicals) miss a deadly heart condition.
- It costs between $200 to $400 to get your heart checked by a cardiologist
- It takes about 3 to 6 months to get an appointment with the Cardiologist
- Our screening is FREE, results will be given within two weeks (3/23)
2024 FL Volleyball Meeting! There will be a meeting for any current 9-11th grade girls who are interested in playing volleyball this coming fall. The meeting will be Monday, March 25th during advisory in the rec sports room just off of the arena. If you have any questions or cannot make the meeting please email Coach Fisher at fishera@flhsemail.org. Please check-in with your advisory teacher first. (3/25)
MCC is hosting a Women's Speaker Panel on Friday, March 22, during Advisory. The following speakers will be presenting: Our amazing principal, Kat Stokes, Raiders President, Sandra Douglass Morgan and Special Agent, Mari Panovich.
Thank you for participating in the Books 4 the Kids. which supports the non-profit organization Cure 4 the Kids. This non-profit foundation helps children receive cancer treatments and the latest and most current treatments for specialized diseases. During treatment, the kids are provided with supplies such as books and craft supplies. Cure 4 the Kids is currently experiencing a shortage of books for patients to read during their infusions. If you can donate, please drop off books (children through young adult) or craft supplies in the donation boxes located near the Shield store and the Homestretch Greenhouse drop off locations.
To raise funds, there will also be a bake sale from March 25th to 29th during lunch. Buy treats and support Books 4 the Kids! (4/5)

Just a reminder about our annual March Madness - Food Truck event. Students, please check the dates so that you know when your class will have your turn. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR STUDENT ID in order to participate! Please enter the event through the large green gate near the Greenhouse. All other gates leading to Homestretch Drive are off limits. Please check the attached flyer for a list of vendors, costs, etc. Feel free to check out the vendor websites for information regarding any food or dietary restrictions. Calling all rising Juniors and Seniors for the 2024/2025 school year! The FBI Teen Academy is a two-day program that allows high school students an opportunity to get a comprehensive look into today's FBI. Students are provided with several
presentations on topics including terrorism, cybercrime, public corruption, evidence response, SWAT, and the day-to-day operations of a typical FBI office. Please see attached flier for information. (4/12)

MostPrep's Winter/Spring 2024 SAT/ACT Classes
FLHS is pleased to announce that MostPrep will be running both SAT courses at FLHS in preparation for the two most popular SAT dates later in the school year and, for the first time at FLHS, an ACT course leading up to the school-based ACT on April 9. You may use this LINK to sign up for a class. There is a limit of 25 students per session, so registrations will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact MostPrep by e-mail (mostprep@gmail.com) or phone (702-896-1307 -- this is a landline, so please don't send a text!) if you have any questions. Here is a list of course offerings; no student may register for more than 1 course, and these courses are only open to current juniors. FLHS will bill students' accounts for these courses after they begin.
SAT Spring Course, March 27 - May 3: This 6-week course ($700) aims to fully cover the most important content for the new digital SAT, all of which carries over to the ACT. Two proctored practice tests are included. This course will meet on Wednesday nights (7 - 9:30pm) and Friday afternoons (4 - 5:30pm), except for Good Friday; the course will meet on Thursday afternoon that week instead. This course will not be meeting over spring break. Practice tests will run from 8am - 10:30am on April 20 and April 27, which are the final two Saturdays before the May SAT.

2023/2024 School Year

If you are planning on participating in High School Sports, please complete your Aktivate registration for the 2023/2024 school year ASAP. The website is as follows: aktivate.com
HS Sports Physicals – Please use NEW NIAA Physical forms as of 4/1/23:
You can obtain the most current physical forms/instructions from Crusader Connect, Resources Page, under MS/HS Sports Registration Information.
Aktivate Instructions/NIAA New Physical forms to be used effective 4/1/23
Please do not use the physical forms provided by the doctor’s office. They are usually not current and will be rejected.
--Physicals expire 12 months from the date of the doctor’s signature. –Up to date physicals are required for the 2023/2024 school year. It is recommended to schedule your physical in June or July so it’s good for the whole year.
--All completed physicals must be uploaded into Aktivate for approval. –If your athlete’s physical expires before or during the season, they will not be allowed to try out for a team. Example: Your child is trying out for a fall sport, your previously completed physical was done on 11/10/22. The physical expired as of 11/10/23. It will not be valid for the 2023/2024 Fall season since it expires during the Fall season. A new physical must be obtained before the season in order for your athlete to tryout for their Fall sport.

7th and 8th grade working lunch
7th and 8th grade working lunch will be held every Monday and Wednesday. This is a time to work on school work or study for a test, etc. If you would like to attend a working lunch, you must fill out this form ahead of time and bring your own lunch. Students will come to room 501 with their lunch and will stay the entire lunch period. Working lunch is limited to 25 students each lunch.

And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.” (Luke 1:30-31)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Since the Fall our sinful nature can’t comprehend a God who does things the way in which He does. We would think for Him to work in only high and mighty ways above us and apart from us, but our Lord isn’t who we think He is. And so today we hear about a God who doesn’t deem Himself so high and mighty above us as to leave us in our fallen flesh. But instead, we have a God who deemed us worthy enough that He would become one of us and save us from our fallenness, not to save us from our humanness.
And He does so even as a little embryo floating down fallopian tubes, even as a soiling-himself infant in a cattle stall, even as a stumbling toddler and a pubescent teenager and twenty-something carpenter and a thirty year old dead man on a cross. He does this as He bursts out of the tomb, not leaving the shell of His humanity in the grave to rot, but raising it up in perfection while still bearing the marks of the cross so that we might forever know that the death of this God-man means the life of mankind. And even to this day He has done this by assuming our human nature up into the heavens, seated at the right hand of God giving us the very thing that we always desired, but were too shortsighted and ignorant to understand. For we were always going to reign until eternity with Him; not by us becoming like Him, but by Him becoming like us.
Is there any better way to prepare ourselves for the coming Holy Week; to prepare ourselves for the institution of a Supper of the flesh and blood of Jesus; to prepare ourselves for a dark Good Friday when the Son of God hangs derelict on a tree with human hands and feet nailed and human blood flowing mingled down; to prepare ourselves for the empty tomb and the risen Jesus in the flesh; is there any better way for us to prepare for all of that than by us celebrating today the Annunciation and human conception of our God? … If there is, I know not of it. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
