Free Heart Screening:
There will be a free heart screening for athletes ages between 14 to 25
When: 3/23/24
Time: 2:00-6:00 pm
Where: Democracy Prep - 1201 W Lake Mead Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89106
WHY YOU SHOULD REGISTER TO GET YOUR HEART CHECKED:
- 96% of the standard wellness check (physicals) miss a deadly heart condition.
- It costs between $200 to $400 to get your heart checked by a cardiologist
- It takes about 3 to 6 months to get an appointment with the Cardiologist
- Our screening is FREE, results will be given within two weeks (3/23)
2024 FL Volleyball Meeting! There will be a meeting for any current 9-11th grade girls who are interested in playing volleyball this coming fall. The meeting will be Monday, March 25th during advisory in the rec sports room just off of the arena. If you have any questions or cannot make the meeting please email Coach Fisher at fishera@flhsemail.org. Please check-in with your advisory teacher first. (3/25)
MCC is hosting a Women's Speaker Panel on Friday, March 22, during Advisory. The following speakers will be presenting: Our amazing principal, Kat Stokes, Raiders President, Sandra Douglass Morgan and Special Agent, Mari Panovich.
Starting March 5th, the charity of the month will be Books 4 the Kids. Books 4 the Kids supports the non-profit organization Cure 4 the Kids. This non-profit foundation helps children receive cancer treatments and the latest and most current treatments for specialized diseases. During treatment, the kids are provided with supplies such as books and craft supplies. Cure 4 the Kids is currently experiencing a shortage of books for patients to read during their infusions. If you can donate, please drop off books (children through young adult) or craft supplies in the donation boxes located near the Shield store and the Homestretch Greenhouse drop off locations. To raise funds, there will also be a bake sale from March 18th to 22nd (the week we return from Spring Break) during all lunches. Buy treats and support Books 4 the Kids! (4/5)

Just a reminder about our annual March Madness - Food Truck event. Students, please check the dates so that you know when your class will have your turn. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR STUDENT ID in order to participate! Please enter the event through the large green gate near the Greenhouse. All other gates leading to Homestretch Drive are off limits. Please check the attached flyer for a list of vendors, costs, etc. Feel free to check out the vendor websites for information regarding any food or dietary restrictions. The FL cafeteria will still be open and students/employees can still bring their lunch if they prefer. (3/28)
Calling all rising Juniors and Seniors for the 2024/2025 school year! The FBI Teen Academy is a two-day program that allows high school students an opportunity to get a comprehensive look into today's FBI. Students are provided with several
presentations on topics including terrorism, cybercrime, public corruption, evidence response, SWAT, and the day-to-day operations of a typical FBI office. Please see attached flier for information. (4/12)

MostPrep's Winter/Spring 2024 SAT/ACT Classes
FLHS is pleased to announce that MostPrep will be running both SAT courses at FLHS in preparation for the two most popular SAT dates later in the school year and, for the first time at FLHS, an ACT course leading up to the school-based ACT on April 9. You may use this LINK to sign up for a class. There is a limit of 25 students per session, so registrations will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact MostPrep by e-mail (mostprep@gmail.com) or phone (702-896-1307 -- this is a landline, so please don't send a text!) if you have any questions. Here is a list of course offerings; no student may register for more than 1 course, and these courses are only open to current juniors. FLHS will bill students' accounts for these courses after they begin.
SAT Spring Course, March 27 - May 3: This 6-week course ($700) aims to fully cover the most important content for the new digital SAT, all of which carries over to the ACT. Two proctored practice tests are included. This course will meet on Wednesday nights (7 - 9:30pm) and Friday afternoons (4 - 5:30pm), except for Good Friday; the course will meet on Thursday afternoon that week instead. This course will not be meeting over spring break. Practice tests will run from 8am - 10:30am on April 20 and April 27, which are the final two Saturdays before the May SAT.

HS Sports Reminders
2023/2024 School Year

If you are planning on participating in High School Sports, please complete your Aktivate registration for the 2023/2024 school year ASAP. The website is as follows: aktivate.com
HS Sports Physicals – Please use NEW NIAA Physical forms as of 4/1/23:
You can obtain the most current physical forms/instructions from Crusader Connect, Resources Page, under MS/HS Sports Registration Information.
Aktivate Instructions/NIAA New Physical forms to be used effective 4/1/23
Please do not use the physical forms provided by the doctor’s office. They are usually not current and will be rejected.
--Physicals expire 12 months from the date of the doctor’s signature. –Up to date physicals are required for the 2023/2024 school year. It is recommended to schedule your physical in June or July so it’s good for the whole year.
--All completed physicals must be uploaded into Aktivate for approval. –If your athlete’s physical expires before or during the season, they will not be allowed to try out for a team. Example: Your child is trying out for a fall sport, your previously completed physical was done on 11/10/22. The physical expired as of 11/10/23. It will not be valid for the 2023/2024 Fall season since it expires during the Fall season. A new physical must be obtained before the season in order for your athlete to tryout for their Fall sport.

7th and 8th grade working lunch
7th and 8th grade working lunch will be held every Monday and Wednesday. This is a time to work on school work or study for a test, etc. If you would like to attend a working lunch, you must fill out this form ahead of time and bring your own lunch. Students will come to room 501 with their lunch and will stay the entire lunch period. Working lunch is limited to 25 students each lunch.

Who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death. (The Second Article: Part Two)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. The Second Article of the Creed is about Jesus, it is about Jesus for you. It is the salvation story simplified into the smallest little paragraph. … God took on human flesh, He incarnated Himself to be one of us. He stepped out of the glories of heaven, the vast everythingness and everywhereness of His infinite omni-ness and He placed Himself as the smallest speck within a virgin’s fallopian tubes, all so that He could float down into her uterus and be one of us, one with us in every way.
Out of the womb and into the fallen world; perfect God yet perfect man. The Law ever before Him, ever being fulfilled in every active way imaginable, passively crossing every single “t” and dotting every single “i” in perfection. Jesus standing as Israel, God’s son, before the Father: Israel as Israel should have been (perfect) and Israel as Israel truly was (sinful): The paradox of the Gospel as Jesus stands as both perfect sacrifice and at the same time, sin itself.
Then off to the place of purchase and triumph, Calvary and Golgotha, wallet full of a priceless currency that doesn’t glisten like gold or silver, but instead pulsates with the blood-red vibrancy that courses through His veins. … Perfect Lamb led to the slaughter so that His blood could cleanse us from all our sins. Innocent as only God can be, yet held guilty for every last crime of humanity. All sins forgiven, all shame remitted. Death killed and laid to rest in His tomb. Satan’s head crushed by a nail-pierced heel.
In fancy theological talk we call this “The Great Exchange”, for that is what Jesus did for humanity every step of the way. What is His is now exchanged for what was ours: sins for righteousness, death for life, dirty shame for a clean conscience. … All of this culminates next week on Good Friday, when Jesus cries out, “It is finished!” And for the sake of Christ, it is. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
