We not only practice writing, but we share our ideas and stories with each other as well as play fun games and occasionally host events. HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME: THE FIRST 300 FAITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO THE FOOTBALL GAME Friday night will get a wristband for exclusive access to the bleachers in the south end zone of the football field. Be there early to get your wristband! WE WILL START HANDING THEM OUT AT 6:00 PM AT THE INSIDE GATE BY THE TRACK.
Faith students must have their Faith Lutheran I.D. to receive a wristband to access the bleachers for the Homecoming game.
Have you ever needed someone to talk to but weren’t sure where to go?When you need someone to turn to, the Peer Support Counselors are here to lend a hand. Our goal is to help our fellow students academically and emotionally. We want to create a comfortable environment at Faith Lutheran, where students can ask for help when they need it. Canyon Ridge Christian is hosting Pastor Mark Gunger for their Annual Date Night. The Date Night will be held on Thursday, October 17th. Set-up 3:00 -4:00PM. Tear down will be at 7:30pm and another at 8:30pm. IF YOU COMMIT TO TWO(2) YOU WILL BE GIVEN CREDIT FOR ALL THREE (3) IF YOU SIGN UP THROUGH COACH WILSON. COMMUNITY CRUSADER SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:
Faith Community Lutheran Church will hold their annual Women's Christmas Tea on Sunday, December 8th from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Faith Community Lutheran Church Spiritual Life Center. Doors open at 4:45 pm. Students are invited to earn service hours as "butlers" (servers) during the event or be part of the "tear-down crew." Three shifts are available:
- Sunday, Dec. 8th from 2:00 - 5:00 pm help prep food and beverages and serve during outdoor fellowship
- Sunday, Dec. 8th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm serve appetizers and beverages during program, help clean up
- Monday, Dec 9th from 3:00-6:00 pm to take down tables and chairs and reset the room for Worship.

It's that time of year again: the autumn As They Grow Consignment sale is back! We need LOTS of volunteers willing to represent Baby's Bounty throughout the sale weekend. The Season Finale will be held the weekend of Oct. 25th~27th. Regardless of which shift you choose, you will undoubtedly be asked to fold clothing, assist customers, put items away, etc.
All shifts will be held at 4500 N. Rancho Dr. (near the intersection of N. Rancho & W. Craig.) Below are the days and shifts available (you may choose as many as you'd like!):

Online Health Sign-up for High School Students
If you are in need of completing your high school health credit, the Fall 2 session of online Health begins October 21. If you would like to be enrolled in this class, you must fill out the form at this linkby Friday October 11. You will be charged an extra $350 on your tuition bill for this class if you are not enrolled in a study hall, early dismissal or late arrival for the 2019-2020 school year. If you took Health in 8th grade here at Faith or have taken Health at Las Vegas Day School, Adelson, Cornerstone, Alexander Dawson, Lake Mead Christian Academy or The Meadows in 7th or 8th grade, your high school Health requirement is already complete and you do not need this class. MOST PREP SAT CLASS
Faith Lutheran is proud to announce a new SAT preparation partnership with the founder and president of MostPrep, Mike Obstgarten. He will be running 6-week prep courses at 6:45 to 9:15pm in room 216 for juniors and seniors specifically for the SAT starting this summer for $600. Students interested in prepping for the ACT should still take this course as the exams are now similar enough that specific ACT courses are not necessary. This full-length course provides ample instruction and review of the concepts most frequently tested on the SAT, as well as the coaching and implementation of the test-taking techniques that have been proven to work, all while dispelling common myths and reassuring students that the task in front of them is not as daunting as it might seem. To sign up please fill out the form at this link a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the start of the class you are interested in. Be a part of the Cyber Defense Squad, you'll work with your team in learning to manage and defend networks and find and fix cybersecurity vulnerabilities. DEVOTIONAL
Daily Lectionary: Deuteronomy 4:21-40; Matthew 8:1-17
Did any people ever hear the voice of a god speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and still live? (Deuteronomy 4:33)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. In the Christian Church, as the Bible explains, the prophecy is fulfilled. The Lord’s people see and hear His Word. This goes to the root of the Holy Spirit’s work, making the blind to see and the deaf to hear God’s Word to all generations. First God’s Word of Law exposes our false gods, then the Good News of Jesus Christ FOR YOU reintroduces us to our Lord. This is how we receive the power of the Gospel that works in us. God gives us open ears to fear, love and trust Him alone to be our God.
For this specific purpose, God sends a preacher. A preacher announces words, and the words are finally two: “You are dead by God’s judgment,” and, “Arise on account of Christ’s forgiveness.” The Church receives these gifts of the Holy Spirit by faith. She has been given something to hope in that can never wither and die on the vine. She is given the free gifts of Christ, in Word and Sacrament, the forgiveness of all sins for Christ’s sake through them, even raising the dead by them.
He opens our ears to hear His words: You are baptized. You are free to confess and be absolved of all your sins in My Name. You are given and receive the Lord’s Supper. You read Scripture and hear it preached. You pray by the way of thankful response with certainty that I hear you, for I am your heavenly Father.
His Word fills our ears and abides in our hearts. More than that, His Spirit works in us to express our deepest need and thanks. He turns us away from sin, death, and the devil toward righteousness and toward Jesus Christ in whom the Church has received the forgiveness of all sins, whom we worship in the Spirit and truth, One God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, to all generations, forever and ever. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
All who confess Christ’s holy name, Give God the praise and glory. Let all who know His pow’r proclaim Aloud the wondrous story. Cast ev’ry idol from its throne, For God is God and He alone: To God all praise and glory! (Sing Praise to God, the Highest Good, LSB 819:5)
