At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes we  will need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

DEVOTIONAL
Tell me, you who desire to be under the Lord, do you not hear the Law? (Galatians 4:21)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. We just love God’s holy Law. We love to hear about what God does and does not want us to do. We want to please God in all we say and do. “Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth!” (Psalm 86:11). We pray it and we generally mean it.
We are not without sin in our affection for the Law. We sinfully love to hold other people to God’s Law and judge them for what they do and don’t do while we are doing/not doing the same things we judge them for. We think that the Law says what it says for others. They need the Law. They don’t measure up. We, on the other hand, are just fine.
But also, in our depravity, what we love most about God’s Law is our ability to do it. We think we can do His Law. If we just try hard enough, do enough, strive enough, we can do what God’s Law requires.
We can’t! We cannot do the Law enough to merit favor with God. We can’t do it completely, so we can’t do it all. The Law demands a perfection that we cannot achieve. The Law cannot justify us. That’s not why it was given. Even if it had been given to justify, we would need to obey the Law perfectly in order to to stand before God in it. That’s why St. Paul asks the question, “Have you actually heard the Law?”
The Law doesn’t forgive. It doesn’t give life. It can’t make you a better person. That’s not why the Lord gave it! No, in the Law and through the Law you die to the Law. The Law was given to kill you so that Christ can raise you from the dead. That’s its office, its purpose. The Law was given to kill you.
Jesus! We love the Law because of Jesus! The only One who could fulfill the Law perfectly for us is Christ. The only one who could fully suffer the punishment of God’s Law for us is Jesus. The Law is good and wise because it kills us so that Jesus can make us alive again in His Law-abiding life and His suffering, Lent, and death.
The Law kills. It’s your Good Friday death to sin. The Law empties your hands of everything that you would offer to God so that your hands are free now to receive his enlivening Gospel. The Gospel is your Easter morning resurrection to life everlasting. It delivers to you everything which Jesus did for you on the Cross.
Alive in the Gospel, you do good to those around you. You read the Law. You die to yourself daily in the Law so that you can live for others in Jesus. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
