Hot Shooting Scorpions Down Crusaders

Sometimes, when an opponent is just having one of those nights, there isnt much you can do, and that was the case for the Crusaders in this one as a close game at half was blown open in the second half when Las Vegas Day School made FIVE three point baskets en route to a 29-8 win.

Picking up on the momentum from an excellent second half the prior day, Faith trailed by just two points at the break. Just like it was in the second half of the previous game, the Crusader defense was excellent in the first half, as they held the Scorpions to eight points and trailed 8-6 after the first 12 minutes. Hana had four points in the paint and Lauryn tallied two free throws to account for the Crusader points while Vari, Grace, Katelyn, Lisa, Kali'a and Alexis each contributed to the excellent defensive effort, despite some foul trouble, another new experience for this bunch.

LVDS stretched things out in the 2nd half, attacking more from the perimeter, and as mentioned above, the long range shots were falling, as the Scorpions drained five treys in the final 12 minutes, accounting for more than half of thier total for the game. Outside shooting like that is impressive, and Coach Angel is already excited about working with the team on perimeter defense. Lauryn added two more free throws after a technical foul was called on the Scorpions for "excessive physicality" against Vari. (Great job from the line Lauryn!) to account for the final Faith tally.

It was great to get two games in this week in preparation for the start of Red Rock Athletic Conference play next week.  This group improves every minute they are on the floor, and it is great to see all the excitement and teamwork.

Go Faith!!!
