Invitations to join our Academies will be sent out via letters home and emails to students by January 31st. Applications should be completed through Crusader Connect by February 15. If you are interested in joining one of our Academies, but are not contacted by that date, please check the website for entrance requirements and then contact us using the email link on the page:

Faith Community Women's Christmas Tea is looking for help the following days:

Saturday, Dec 1 from 9:00-noon or longer     (guys and gals)

Sunday, Dec 2  from 3:30 - 6:30 for butler duty (guys only - white dress shirt and dark pants)

Sunday, Dec 2 from 6:45 - 9:00  clean up and put away tables and decorations      (guys and gals)

In cooperation with Princeton Review, Faith Lutheran is offering Princeton Review's Ultimate combined ACT & SAT course on campus, which includes 25 hours of instruction and 4 full-length diagnostic practice exams on Saturday mornings at 9:00. This course is valued at $1099, but Faith students can take it for only $599. The next available course starts with a practice test on January 26 and will run mostly Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, concluding just before the March SAT and April ACT. The following class will begin with a practice test on April 6 and will run mostly Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, concluding just before the June SAT and June ACT. Exact dates for the classes are listed below. To sign up please fill out the form at this link by January 11 for the Winter class or by March 22 for the Spring class. REGISTER The total $599 for the class will be added to your tuition bill once the class has begun. Today’s Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
Daily Lectionary: Isaiah 1:1-28; 1 Peter 1:1-12

In the Name of Jesus. Amen. In the beginning the earth was formless and void and darkness covered the face of the deep. God spoke into the darkness and said, “Let there be light” and there was light. Order out of chaos. Something out of nothing. Light out of darkness. That’s how the Lord worked in Genesis.

That’s also how Christ works in each of us. We were children of the dark, shrouded by the night of sin. We lived in chaos and rebellion against our Creator. Then Christ came like a thief in the night and spoke a creative word: “I baptize you in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.” Let there be a child of God. Let there be forgiveness, light, and salvation. Let there be life. And behold, God saw what He had made and it was very good.

Baptism is your re-Genesis. Baptism creates faith in you from nothing. Baptism brings you Jesus’ death and resurrection, for it was upon the cross that Jesus took your sinful chaos and made it His own. Jesus died under the cover of darkness to bring you into His glorious light. Jesus hung on the cross in naked humiliation in order to clothe you with the breastplate of faith and love. Jesus took His crown of thorns and twisted it into a helmet of hope and salvation for you.

You are a child of the day—the endless day of Christ’s resurrection. You belong to Christ. That’s why you live differently compared to many of your friends at school or the people you see on TV. That’s why you get up early on Sunday morning to go to Divine Service instead of sleeping in, or why you find comfort in Jesus’ promises, even in the midst of this sin-darkened world. For your life is not found in the darkness, but in the light of Christ’s death and resurrection. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
