As LATINO HERITAGE MONTH Comes to a close the FLHS Mosaic Council and the group of latino students working behind this would like to thank the student body for the opportunity to share our beautiful culture with you throughout this month long celebration! As a closing there will be a gallery displayed in the CPAC showcasing influential Latino Americans through history, this gallery will be up from Friday October 12 through Monday October 15th. Please stop by any time to learn about and see the amazing impact and importance of Latino Americans !!! Gracias

Our awesome Faith Marching Band will be in a competition this Saturday, October 13th, at Silverado High School which is located at 1650 Silver Hawk Ave, 89123. The competition starts at 2:00 and we should perform at about 3:15. Admission is $10.We’d like as many as possible to come cheer on our Crusader Band! (10/12)

SHH will offer free Spanish tutoring on late start Tuesday mornings in Mrs. Grant's room, 224.It runs from 7:30 to 8:30. You can come in any time between these hours. No appointment necessary!

Faith Lutheran Academy's annual Bingo Night is coming up on October 13th, 2018. We are requesting high school students to help us work the event from 5:30p.m. – 10:00p.m. This will count toward service hours.
Students would assist in the following areas:
- - Set up
- - Greeters
- - Check-in
- - Raffle/game ticket sales
- - Snack bar helper
- - General assistance/floaters
- - Clean up
Expectations:
This event is best suited for extroverts—we encourage students to interact with guests throughout the evening.
The dress for this event is FLHS uniform.

It's Fall Festival time! Lamb of God Lutheran Church & School needs your help on Saturday, October 20th at our Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat! This is a wonderful opportunity to have fun with children of all ages, dress up in Halloween costumes, and earn volunteer hours. Whether you volunteer to decorate a car trunk for Trunk or Treat, lead a game or activity booth, sell concessions, or simply assist with set up and clean up you will earn 4 volunteer hours. Mosaic Cultural Council
Are you interested in learning about other cultures? Are you or your family a part of a unique culture that you would love to see represented on our campus? If you would like to learn more about cultural opportunities here at Faith or in the city of Las Vegas, consider joining the Mosaic Cultural Council. This club meets every Thursday during HS lunch in Portable 54 with Mr. Klenz. Online Health Sign-up for High School Students:If you are in need of completing your high school health credit, the Fall 2 session of online Health begins October 22. If you would like to be enrolled in this class, you must fill out the form at the link below by Friday October 12. You will be charged an extra $350 on your tuition bill for this class unless you have a study hall, late arrival or early dismissal in your 2018-2019 class schedule. If you took Health in 8th grade here at Faith or have taken Health at Las Vegas Day School, Adelson, Cornerstone, Alexander Dawson, Lake Mead Christian Academy or The Meadows in 7th or 8th grade, your high school Health requirement is already complete and you do not need this class. 7/8th Grade Girls Basketball Clinic
A free basketball clinic for 7/8th grade girls will be held on Friday, October 19th, from 3:30-5:00 pm in the Aux Gym. A medical release form must be completed in order to participate. Please check your email for the link to purchase swim team gear. Make sure you have registered with Register My Athlete to receive emails. If you haven't done so yet, get a gear flyer from Coach Carroll. Due date to pay for gear is Wednesday, October 24!
Dates to Remember:
- Thursday, October 18 Dry practice after school in Coach Carroll's room Portable 67 for swimmers only. Parents can pick up students at 3:45.
- Monday, October 22 is first practice at Pavilion Pool. Practices are 3:30-5:00. You must have a physical done and are in Register My Athlete to participate and swim at practice.

God Wants To Set You Free

When you become a prisoner of war, the enemy controls all your movements and decides what each day of your life will be like. Has the enemy captured you? Perhaps you’ve tried over and over again to be free from your addiction but you are still imprisoned by it. There’s good news: ‘If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.’ Whether you are addicted to drugs, lust, alcohol, gambling, food, or anything else, your answer is not natural – but supernatural. Your addiction is a ‘symptom’ of a deeper spiritual condition that Jesus the Great Physician wants to heal. At the core of every twelve-step program is this truth: it’s only by turning to a power greater than ourselves and developing a relationship with Him, that we can get free and stay free. And we know who that ‘power’ is – Jesus! When you feel ‘restless, irritable, and discontent’, His presence is what brings peace and serenity. When you’re tempted to turn to your addiction to find relief, His presence fills the emptiness within you and enables you to say no. When you experience ‘euphoric recall’ and begin to think about the best times of your addiction rather than the worst ones, His Word renews your mind and reframes your attitude, showing you the right path to take at that moment: ‘By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path’ (Psalm 119:105). Peter said, ‘The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations’ (2 Peter 2:9). Today, God wants to set you free.
