NHS applications are out and are due by Monday April 30th. If you are a Junior or sophomore with a weighed cumulative GPA of 4.0 or higher, and did not receive an email, and are interested, please contact Mr. Nagel.(4/27)
ATTENTION ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: There is a flag football tournament being held on Saturday May, 5 at 10 a.m. to help raise awareness for celiac disease. The charity of the month for the month of May is the Celiac Disease Foundation. If you are interested in participating in the tournament contact Maggie Shuirman ms0281@flhsemail.org or Julia Schifini js0888@flhsemail.org. Please sign up with your full roster of teams of 5-8 players or we will have a table during lunch on Thursday, Friday, and Monday where you can come and sign up. It costs 20 dollars per team. All of the money raised will go directly to the Celiac Disease Foundation. Please come out and support so we can help to find a cure for this disease!! (5-1)
The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation is having their annual walk to steps for a cure May 19, 2018. You can join the team to walk for Faith by going to www.cctakesteps.org/lasvegas2018
Please note that participating in the walk does NOT count for community service hours.

Apply now for Faith’s 2018-2019 ViSA program, Faith’s Visiting Student Ambassadors. We have some great plans for ViSA next year and need students that love our school to be a part of our admission events, shadow days and student meet and greets. Applications are filled out online and are due by April 30th, 2018! We are asking more questions this year and require more information on our application, so take some time to fill it out! We also need a picture of your current student ID and a video that tells us your name, grade, how long you’ve been at Faith, one of your favorite activities and the answer to the following question: If you were a food, which food would you be and why(trust me…we have reasons!). Miracle League is a baseball league that allows children and adults of all ages with various degrees of disabilities to play baseball. DEVOTIONAL
Avoid Strife
For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. James 3:16
The apostle Paul writes: ‘Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand’ (Philippians 2:2-4). Strife wreaks havoc in relationships. It often stems from an inflated ego and leads to comparing, competing, and condemning. James points that out: ‘Where...strife is, there is...every evil work.’ So be a strife-spotter! The moment it rears its ugly head – uproot it! ‘Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many’ (Hebrews 12:15). If you want to walk in God’s blessing today, try to live in harmony with others. Is that always easy? No, but the sooner you learn to do it, the better things will go for you. When God prompts you to ‘turn the other cheek’, or ‘take the short end of the stick’, draw on His grace and do it. Pray: ‘Lord, give me Your wisdom in this situation.’ He will. ‘The wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and...good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness’ (James 3:17-18). Bottom line: if you want to be open to God’s blessing on your life – avoid strife.
