MOST PREP SAT CLASSES
Faith Lutheran is proud to announce a new SAT preparation partnership with the founder and president of MostPrep, Mike Obstgarten. He will be running 6-week prep courses at 6:45 to 9:15pm in room 216 for juniors and seniors specifically for the SAT starting this summer for $600. Students interested in prepping for the ACT should still take this course as the exams are now similar enough that specific ACT courses are not necessary. This full-length course provides ample instruction and review of the concepts most
frequently tested on the SAT, as well as the coaching and implementation of the
test-taking techniques that have been proven to work, all while dispelling common
myths and reassuring students that the task in front of them is not as daunting as it
might seem. To sign up please fill out the form at this link a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the start of the class you are interested in. REGISTER The total $600 for the class will be added to your tuition bill once the class has begun. Contact Mr. Buikema at buikemad@flhsemail.org or Mike directly at mostprep@gmail.comwith questions.

At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes we  will need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

DEVOTIONAL
Today’s Reading: 1 Peter 2:21-25
Daily Lectionary: Exodus 34:1-28; Luke 7:18-35
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. (1 Peter 2:24)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. The life and death of Jesus offer an impossible example to follow. How could we ever hope to follow in His steps? He committed no sin. We can’t take a step without sinning.
And the world hated Him for it. So did the religious leaders. They conspired together to have Jesus put to death. And how did He respond? “When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly” (1 Peter 2:23).
This is an example of where we fail miserably. The first thing we want to do when people speak evil of us is to shoot an insult right back at them. When we feel like we’re under attack, we go into fight or flight mode. Jesus suffered silently and willingly. He did not fight the injustice that was done to Him. Rather, He looked to the One who judges justly—His Father in heaven.
We could certainly learn from this example, especially in a world that is not friendly to our faith. From the stories that occupy the mass media to our own social circles, hardly a day goes by without some insult to our faith. To suffer patiently is a virtue (Romans 12:12). Rather than focus on the injustice of the world, look to the Father, whose justice swallows up all injustice.
But when we fail in following this example—as with every one of our failures—we know that Jesus’ patient endurance, His suffering, and His sinless life were all for us. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness” (1 Peter 2:24).
“By His wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls” (1 Peter 2:25-26). What a beautiful turn of events! The Son’s silent suffering is for our healing; His sinless life and truthful speech shepherd us and look over our souls. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
In suff’ring be Thy love my peace, In weakness be Thy love my pow’r; And when the storms of life shall cease, O Jesus, in that final hour, Be Thou my rod and staff and guide, And draw me safely to Thy side! (Jesus, Thy Boundless Love to Me, LSB 683:4)
