Faith Life

Student life at Faith Lutheran is full of opportunities to worship, learn, compete, build relationships and have fun! Dozens of clubs meet both on and off campus with activities to match any interests. Plus, a dedicated staff makes sure that students are cared for academically, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and socially. We want Faith Lutheran to be a place our students and their families can call home. Check out all that Faith Lutheran has to offer!

DRESS CODE

Faith Lutheran has adopted a practice that requires all students to wear a prescribed wardrobe. An attractive school wardrobe promotes school spirit and an improved self-image, while maintaining a neat appearance of the student body. This wardrobe further identifies students as members of the school community and fosters a spirit of cooperation, participation and safety.

All students will be in khaki or black shorts/pants and black, white, or maroon polos.  All uniforms can be purchased from The Shield (school store). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • Free Dress

Occasionally, the school may announce free dress days. This privilege is reserved for students who comply consistently with the school’s uniform dress code policy and will be revoked for those students who do not. Students may earn free dress if they have 2 or less dress code infractions between quarters. On those days, students are expected to exercise good judgment in the choice of their apparel. No clothing featuring alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, skulls, bands/performers or symbols related to the same. Clothing that is too tight, revealing or shows a bare midriff is not allowed.  No spaghetti straps or tank tops. Shorts and skirts must be 2 inches below the finger tips. Nothing oversized. No hats or sunglasses worn in the building. Dress code regulations regarding footwear remain in place. No ragged or torn clothing where skin is visible is allowed. Decisions made about the appropriateness of free dress are the sole responsibility of the school and its officials.  Students dressed inappropriately will lose free dress privileges for the balance of the semester and may be suspended from school.
Dress code decisions are made solely by the school administration and are not subject to appeal.
  • Dress Code Enforcement

Students who are in violation of the dress code are subject to be written up for dress code infractions. In enforcing the dress code Faith will distinguish between infractions that are “correctable” and those that are not.  Examples of non-correctable infractions include: wearing non-uniform pants/shorts, polo shirts with logos, shorts hemmed above the minimum length requirement, or inappropriate footwear. A second non-correctable dress code violation results in a detention. The Administration will first provide students who are dressed in non-correctable dress with alternative clothing.  If that option does not work the student will be suspended from class until such time as a parent/guardian can bring appropriate clothes to school, or in the case of older students, when the student has been given permission by a parent/guardian to leave school and return appropriately attired. Time out of class is considered unexcused.

Examples of “correctable” dress code infractions include: pants worn below the waist, long-sleeved t-shirts worn under regulation polo’s, or wearing non-regulation sweatshirts or outerwear.  In these cases, the violation will be corrected and the infraction will be recorded per the handbook. Boys who need to shave will be charged $1 and will be given a razor and shaving cream.
  • Dress Code Progression

    1. The 3rd dress code infraction will result in a detention.
    2. Saturday work detention after 5th dress code infraction
    3. 1 day suspension after 7th dress code infraction
    4. Required Parent Conference after 8th dress code infraction. (Enrollment discussed during conference.)
    * Dress Code Infractions are counted on a semester basis
  • Dress at School Events

Students should remember they are representing a Christian school and their dress should be reflective of that. Students may be asked to change clothes or leave the activity if their clothing is not in keeping with that theme. Restrictions regarding earrings, tattoos, appropriate language on shirts, etc., apply to Faith students attending school-sponsored events even when off campus. Students should follow “Free Dress” guidelines while attending all school events unless otherwise directed.
