Scorpions Sting Crusaders - Post a 31-7 Win

Tough, tall, task for the B Team today and it showed as LVDS visited the Student Center and came away with a 31-7 win. Faith did not go down without a fight, and there were plenty of positives to take from this one.
LVDS opened the scoring but Faith tied it right back when Heidi got a rebound and a putback. That was the only Faith scoring of the first quarter, and LVDS took an 8-2 lead at the break. Special mention to Ava W, who made the first of several steals and also made an excellent hustle play in this period.

Heidi notched the only Crusader tally in the 2nd quarter when she split a pair of free throws. These freebies came after some EXCELLENT ball movement and a great pass from Morgan set Heidi up, and she was fouled while shooting. The Scorpions scored seven points in this period to take a 15-3 lead at the half. Olivia continued her steady improvement with some quality minutes in this stanza, while Lilly played and did well in this quarter as well.

Faith came out with defensive intensity in the third quarter and only allowed four points, although the Crusaders did not score in this frame, despite some chances. Still, the defensive showing was very impressive, with Larissa playing her role well during this time. Lindsey again showed athleticism in her playing time, moving her feet well on defense while she was in the game in the 4th.

The full court press is an all or nothing defense and Faith went to that in the final three minutes of the game. It led to a few steals but also led to some easy opportunities for Day School, and LVDS tallied a dozen in this stanza. The FLMS high points were a couple of more steals by Ava, a steal by Kaelyn on the press that led to a Kate basket, and a simply perfect Ava to Kaelyn to Kate pass combination that led to a basket. Shout out to Ava D, who supported her teammates - loudly - the entire game despite being unable to play. This was a learning experience for sure against a VERY good team, and the girls should be proud of the effort. With this result the team is now 2-2 on the year, 1-2 in RRAC play.

They have a busy week next week with the final two regular season league games as well as a couple of non conference tilts. Go Faith!
