HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
GIRLS HS FLAG FOOTBALL INTEREST MEETING Come blaze a new trail! The girls HS Flag Football interest meeting will be held this FRIDAY 9/22 from 3:15pm - 3:30pm in Room 502. The interest meeting will discuss teams expectations, freshman, JV, and varsity information, start dates, and answer questions you may have. Are you interested in giving back to your city? Come down to portable 67 and join the Just One Project. We will support Just One’s mobile food pantry once a month. All you need to bring is yourself, and you will help give food to hundreds of people in need within the valley. We’re gearing up for PSAT testing on October 11, 2023! Here are the key details you need to know:
Test Schedule:
- PSAT/NMSQT (For 10th & 11th graders): 7:45–11:00 a.m.
- PSAT 9/10 (For 8th & 9th graders): 8:15–11:30 a.m.
Please remember that October 11, 2023, is a shortened school day.
Arrival & Departure:
- Students should arrive approximately 15 minutes before their test start time to locate their assigned testing room. Room assignments will be sent home and also posted on campus on the day of the test.
- Pickup location remains the same as the usual drop-off spot. If older students are driving younger siblings, they should wait in the amphitheater until the younger ones are released.
Technical Preparation:
- Download the ‘Bluebook’ application from the self-service app on your Mac or iPad.
- After installing, launch the app and select “Test your device” in the upper right corner. Please make sure everything has a green checkbox
, if not please consult IT immediately. - Sometime prior to testing you will be able to use the app to review sample questions, practice tests, and familiarize yourself with the test-taking tools.
- Make sure your device can sustain a usable charge for at least 3 hours. If not, contact IT.

Faith Lutheran High School Student Council is excited to present Homecoming: Down the Rabbit Hole! Homecoming Week will include fun dress up days (stay tuned for details!), a Powderpuff competition, the grade vs grade Lip Sync Competition, a football game, King and Queen Coronation, and of course a Homecoming Dance :)

PLEASE NOTE: Photos of ID Badges’s or Crusader Connect contact pages will no longer be accepted for entrance to after school events or Seniors, leaving for lunch. If you do not have an ID badge, please visit IT in the library to have a temporary one made or to have a copy of your existing ID created. Per the CCSD, Middle and High School students may not bring guests to after school events hosted by Faith Lutheran who are not enrolled in Faith Lutheran per district regulation 5135.4. (This is a district-wide policy that we are following.) Additionally, Middle school students attending high school events cannot attend without their parents. (9/29)

Are you interested in traveling internationally with Faith Lutheran over Spring Break or Summer 2024? As the new school year has begun, we are in full swing for trip sign-ups for this year's two international ACIS trips. If you are interested in either or both trips, follow the Registration Links below. Each link will take you to the itinerary, dates, prices, insurance, and much more. Our Spring Break Trip is a Tour of Japan and will be led by Mr. Klenz. Our Summer Trip is to France and Switzerland and will be led by Ms. Gieseke. Students can sign up for one or both trips. As soon as you complete your registration and pay your deposit- your price will be locked in and your place secured. Information meetings for both trips will begin in late October/November. NEW NIAA PHYSICAL FORMS INFORMATION effective 4/1/23
A new physical required every 12 months.
--The new Pre-Participation form consists of three pages, HEALTH HISTORY FORM, PHYSICAL EXAMINATION FORM & MEDICAL ELIGIBILITY FORM
--Pages 1 and 2, the Health History Form & Physical Examination Form must remain on file with the student’s medical provider. DO NOT upload these forms into Aktivate or turn them into Faith Lutheran.
**Parents are required to upload page 3, Medical Eligibility Form to Aktivate for approval.**
--Physicals EXPIRE 12 months from the date of previous physical.
--If your athlete’s physical expires before or during their season, they will not be allowed to try out for a team. Example: Your child is trying out for a fall sport, your previously completed physical was done on
11/10/22. The physical is expired as of 11/10/23. It will not be valid for the 2023/2024 Fall season since it expires during the Fall season. A new physical must be obtained before the season in order for your athlete to tryout for
their Fall sport.

TRANSFER STUDENTS

If you are transferring from out of state or from another school you MUST complete your transfer in Aktivate ASAP. DO NOT WAIT. The approval process for transfer students can take weeks or months to get completed & approved. This could affect your athlete participating in their season. IT'S COMING!! IT'S COMING! FINALLY IT'S ALMOST HERE!!!
LEGO Club is starting up again and is looking for new members. We meet in room 502 in the AUX Gym every Tuesday from 3:30-4:30pm starting on Tuesday August 29. If you enjoy digging through bins of random LEGO pieces and using your imagination to create whatever you can come up with, this club is for you!(9/30)
7th and 8th Grade Working Lunch
7th and 8th grade working lunch will begin the month of September starting on the 6th and will continue every Monday and Wednesday. This is a time to work on school work or study for a test, etc.
If you would like to attend a working lunch, you must fill out this form the morning of and bring your own lunch. Students will come to room 501 with their lunch and will stay the entire lunch period. Working lunch is limited to 25 students.

Today’s Reading: Ezekiel 2:8-3:11 (OT for St. Matthew)
Daily Lectionary: 2 Kings 2:1-18, Ephesians 4:1-24
And He said to me, ‘Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them.” (Ezekiel 3:4)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. How do you feel about public speaking? A hasty search on “the Google” informed me that 77% of people have some level of anxiety about speaking in front of a group of people. Statistically speaking, the odds are that you’re in that crowd. But here’s a question to consider: does the anxiety that accompanies such speaking fluctuate based on the audience? If you’re surrounded by your peers, is it easier to find your voice than if you were in a room filled with folks you don’t know? What if the room is filled with experts in the field that you’re discussing? I’m sorry if I just got your heart rate up.
Ezekiel was called by God to preach to the house of Israel. His calling was peculiar, in that God gave him a scroll and instructed him…to eat it! God literally placed His Word into Ezekiel’s mouth. The words are sweet in his mouth, likely as a reminder that God’s Word is always good and right. It’s helpful to remember that when you see what was written on the scroll. There was writing on the front and on the back–words of lamentation, mourning, and woe. I imagine any degree of comfort that Ezekiel had when he learned that his audience was going to be his own people melted away when he saw the words that God was giving him to proclaim. On the one hand, his preaching would be simple enough: the people lived where he lived and they spoke the same language he spoke, but then God broke the news to him that if He had asked him to travel to a strange land where they spoke a foreign language, they would’ve listened to him.
Israel wouldn’t listen. They hadn’t listened to God up to this point, and Ezekiel’s charge was to preach to spiritually deaf ears, hard foreheads, and stubborn hearts. Why? Because God is stubborn in the very best way. He is patient with His people. He will send prophet after prophet to call them to repentance. They’ll be carried off into exile and Ezekiel will go and tell them that God will raise up a New Temple, a New Israel, even a New Creation. In short, Ezekiel preached Christ to a people who had forgotten that God is their salvation! In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
Lord God, bless Your Word wherever it is proclaimed. Make it a word of power and peace to convert those not yet Your own and to confirm those who have come to saving faith. May Your Word pass from the ear to the heart, from the heart to the lip, and from the lip to the life that, as You have promised, Your Word may achieve the purpose for which You send it; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
