Crusaders Tame Dragons in Non Conference Tilt
The Dragons of Doral Red Rock visited the Student Center on Thursday, and Faith was able to come away with a solid win.
The Crusader shook up the starting lineup a bit today, with the five starters being those that properly replied to our weekly email earlier in the week. It took a while for things to get clicking, but soon things started to go our way. Faith scored the first basket, but a couple of strong drives to the basket led to some Doral free throws, and it was 2-1 before Portlynn and Mia each added hoops to make it 6-1. Neveah scored the final seven points of the quarter, four coming from the charity stripe and the other from trey, to give Faith a 13-1 lead after six minutes. The second stanza saw defense dominate, as Skylar provided the only Faith scoring of the period, as she notched four points. That was her final tally, but she also ended up with SEVEN rebounds and had an excellent game overall. DRR did make a nice jumper, and it was 17-3 at the half.
The scoring was very balanced in the third quarter, as Mia and Neveah each had four while Annika and Danielle each added a bucket. Danielle continues to play a big role in our success, as she is all over the court, and today had six points, four rebounds, and added both steals and assists as well. She is so versatile, and does everything we ask of her quite well. The Crusaders did not allow any third stanza points, and took a 29-3 lead into the break. Faith won the final frame by a 6-2 score, with Addison getting two caroms and an assist in the 4th and Dena and Danielle each draining a jumper sandwiched around a Dragon hoop.
The team is looking to finish its three games in three days trek with our first league road game, at The Meadows tomorrow.
Go Faith!
