Crusaders Control League Opener, Post 40-2 Victory

Faith used a great opening three minutes as momentum for the best first quarter of the season en route to a win in the Red Rock Athletic Conference opener vs Meadows.

The Crusaders got things going right away with a basket on the opening possession, and extended the lead to 10-0 before Meadows got on the board. Faith ended the stanza on a six point run to take a 16-2 lead after the first frame. Five Crusaders scored in the first, with Danielle, Mia W, Dena and Portynn with two points apiece, and Neveah tallying eight.

Six Crusaders scored in the second stanza, with Annika leading the way, posting six points. Nearly every basket Faith scored in the first half came after an assist, and that great ball movement and sharing of the ball was great to see. Mia B threaded the needle for three assists in the second quarter alone. Faith led 32-2 at the break.

Danielle finished off a great day with another 3rd quarter basket, giving her six points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal on the day!  Dena had a season high six points and also added a blocked shot. Sklylar continued to do nice work on the glass, and added a putback basket, while Portlynn rose to a coaching staff challenge and had three assists to go along with four points, four caroms, and two steals.

Addison and Mia B were both battling a flu bug, while Ariana was dealing with an injured leg. Those three still battled hard in the 4th quarter with Addi getting a basket, Mia getting two rebounds and steals each, and Ariana grabbing a board and making a nice pass for an assist. Kudos to Sabrina, who got into the scorebook for the first time this season, grabbing a carom in the 4th quarter.

It was a great TEAM effort, and with the result the team is now 4-0 on the season, and most importantly 1-0 in RRAC play.  The Crusaders are back on the court on Thursday, taking on Red Rock Doral.

Go Faith!!!
