Crusaders and Mustangs Spilt, Each Winning 5-0 in Rivalry Match!

The Red Rock Athletic Conference has had Team Championships every year since 2014, and in those five years  Faith and The Meadows have met for the championship in nine of the ten possible meetings (5 each for the Girls and the Boys.) Add in that on the high school level the girls teams met for the 1A State Championship four years running from 2012-2105, and it is safe to say that Mustangs vs Crusaders is a big time rivalry. It always brings out a big crowd and is a fun match to be a part of, helping to prepare players on both teams for what it is like to play on the HS level.
This time around the Meadows boys had the upper hand with a 5-0 win, but the Faith girls flipped the script in their match, posting a 5-0 win of their own.  The Meadows has two highly ranked boys in the first two spots. including the reigning champion of the RRAC singles Boys singles division. Sam and James played tough but did drop both matches.   Parker played 3rd singles and continue his solid play on the season, but did end up falling to his Mustang foe.  Our doubles teams put up some good results today. Sergio/Arnav came the closest with a 3-6 loss, and while Ryan/Zane fell 6-2, both played well and continued to grow in the game, especially impressive since each picked up the racket for the first time less than a month ago!   Jaxon got in a singles set in a Bonus match, and gained some great experience.

Tennis is an individual sport, but on this and the HS level it is also very much a TEAM sport, and folks are called on to step up into different roles when needed. Today that was the case for Summer and Lina each stepped up a line today and posted solid wins over good players, while Maryn played the first A Team singles match of her career and posted a 6-3 victory over a solid Mustang foe.  Elyssa, playing through injury, teamed up with Taylor - herself still recovering from an ankle injury - and got a dominating win at #1 doubles while Brooklyn/Kai controlled things at 2nd doubles to wrap up the 5-0 win for the Crusaders.   Mia T. and Jade teamed up against a Meadows Mixed doubles combo, and posted a 6-2 win.

Have a wonderful and safe Spring Break as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus!

GO FAITH!!!!
