Sing the Anthem! Crusaders Wrangle Two Wins at Del Webb!
Travelling all the way to Anthem, in Henderson, the Crusaders played quite well and came away with two wins, as the Girls posted a 5-0 victory and the Boys toughed out a 3-2 win. With the results both teams improved to 2-0 on the season.
The singles trio of Parker Violand, Sam Fouse and James Vogel spurred the Boys team to th team win. James was 6-1, Sam 6-2, and Parker 6-3 - each did a great job working through the wind and tough oppnents. It was great to welcome Sam into the lineup, and CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST CRUSADER WIN!!!
Both doubles teams fought hard but each ended up losing close matches. Zane and Arnav fell behind at 1st doubles, ralled to take a lead, then saw the Wranglers come back and have a match point. The Crusader duo won that one, forcing a tiebreaker. DWMS took at 6-2 lead in the breaker but Faith almost came all the way back, dropping it 5-7 to lose the match 6-7. Jaxon and Sergio dropped a 3-6 decision to a Wrangler pair at 2nd doubles. Overall Faith pulled out a 3-2 win, and we got Bonus singles match for Josiah while Ryan and Aaron teamed up to play thier first ever match, and do so together. It was quite the site, and we are proud of the effort of both of them. There were some really good things!
For the Girls, today's singles trio of Mia B., Summer and Lina each posted convincing wins, while Brooklyn/Kai started off slow but rattled off the final five games of the match to post a 6-2 win. Del Webb did not have a 2nd doubles team, so Rachel Wu and Jade Paulos got a Forfeit win there, but when those did did take the court they were IMPRESSIVE, posting a 6-1 win over a combination of a DW 1st doubles player and a member of the singles crew! Rounding out the play was the Dynamic Duo of Mia T. and Elyssa, who played a Boys doubles player and a different member of the DW singles trio, and posted a very solid win.
Overall it a was very good day, and the team is looking forward to Thurday's home match against Roy Martin.
Go Faith!!!
