Crusaders Control Opener - Girls Win 5-0 While Boys Post a 4-1 Victory!

Faith travelled to the Rogers Family Tennis Compley at Alexander Dawson School for the season opener and came away with two wins. The Boys team posted a 4-1 win while the Girls won by a 5-0 score.
The singles players for the Girsl for Faith today were Brooklyn, Mia B and Summer, and each posted 6-0 wins.  Brooklyn is now 7-3 in singles in her career at Faith; Mia improves to 13-3 solo and Summer is 5-2 as a singles player. It was a great start to the year for this singles trio.

Doubles today were all girls that were on the B Team last year, and each did very well in thier A Team debuts.   We are very proud of the growth of the Middle School Tennis program over the past few years, and for four players to step into new roles and thrive shows that the B Team pathway is a good one. Elyssa and Maryn posted a 6-1 win at first dubs while Jade and Mia T. emerged from their #2 doubles match with a 6-3 win!

As for the Boys, it was a great start, and a fresh start, as there are a lot of new players wearing Maroon and Gold this year.  James started it off with a 6-0 win at #1 singles while 8th grader Parker, who was on the B team as a 6th grader but did not play last year, notched a 6-4 win at second singles and Josiah earned a 6-0 win at third singles. That was the first time in his Faith career that Parker had played singles, and he did quite well!

The Crusader doubles teams today were Sergio/Zane at #1 dubs with Arnav/Jaxon at the second doublles spot. Zane and Sergio played well but a couple of key points went the way of the Bears, and Dawson won that match by a 6-4 score.  Arnav, who was a doubles starter for us last year, did a great job hepling Jaxon in what was his first match, and this duo prevailed, posting a 6-4 win.

Congrats to all, and special mention to those folks that earned their FIRST CRUSADER WINS TODAY: Josiah Garland and Jaxon Cope!

The Crusaders are back in action next week with matches on Tuesday (vs Del Webb, away) and Thursday (vs Roy Martin, home) and look to keep up the momentum from this great start.

Go Crusaders!!
