Coach Blank began competitive swimming in California through the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District with the Arroyo Sharks and served as captain for his high school team, the Arroyo Aquadons. At Concordia University, Chicago, he certified as a swim instructor and became the head coach a park district swim team between 1995-2000. In Las Vegas, he served as assistant coach for Faith's Swim and Dive Team in 2003 and has been the head coach for the Crusaders since 2004.
