Cubs Score in Final Second to Defeat Crusaders 22-20

Wow - what a game!

In an ebb and flow contest the Co-Ed Vassiliadis B Team defeated the Crusaders 22-20 thanks to a running floater that rattled around the rim and in with just 0.05 seconds left to give VES the win.  It was a fun contest to play and Congrats to both teams for an exciting game!
Faith scored ten points in the first quarter - one of our best quarters of the entire season.  Penny hit a trey, both Ella's scored baskets, Alisi made a free throw, and Lennelle hit a jumper to account for the points. Faith led 10-6 after the first six minutes.

Safe to say defense dominated the second stanza, as the only points in the second came from the Cubs, and Faith took a 10-8 lead into the break. Lexi and Penny tallied baskets in the third quarter but Vassiliadis had two follow up baskets to go along with a three pointer to take a 15-14 lead after three quarters.

The fourth quarter was a roller coaster, with Faith inching out to a lead but VES re-taking it, and with less than a minute left the Cubs led 20-18. Lennelle made a great drive to the basket and hit the layup to tie the score, and in the frantic final 30 seconds each team got up a shot that did not fall. The final sequence saw VES rebound a miss and go the length of the floor to get off the final shot, which proved to be the difference.

Despite the loss, the first for the B Team this season, there were MANY great things to come from this game and they will only help us get more prepared for the RRAC playoffs next week.

Go Crusaders!!
