Crusaders Win ANOTHER Nailbiter - Escape Lions Den With 18-17 Victory!

Playing shorthanded - missing the three top scorers on the season coming into the game - with just seven players, only five of which were 100%, the Crusaders banded  together and pulled out an 18-17 win over Adelson in a down to the wire contest. This marks the team's second consecutive one point victory and shows the mental fortitude of this bunch.

Defenses controlled things for both teams in the first quarter, as the only Crusader points came from Ally on a putback, but Adelson also got a bucket and things were tied after six minutes.

After a hoops from Penny, Adelson took its only lead of the the game in the second quarter, inching ahead 5-4 before a basket from Ella E put the Crusaders ahead to stay. It was 6-5 Faith at the half.

The CRUSADERS best quarter was the third, as we scored eight points, most coming as the result of excellent defense.  Jordyn had two, as did Ally, and Lexi added four points as part of her Team High six points for the contest!  Lexi just continues to work hard and get better, and it was great to see that rewarded today. Faith led 14-9 after three quarters.

Just like yesterday, things got a little scrambled at the end, but again just like yesterday, the Crusaders got things under control enough in the late stages of the contest to come away with the win.  Lexi had another basket and then Ella B added the final tally, which would prove to be the game winning points in a one point win.  We had worked on being smart with the ball late in a game with the lead, and despite a couple of missteps in that regard, for the most part we did well in this aspect of things.

THANKS TO OUR SCOREKEEPER...we know that the post trio of Ella E, Ally and Lexi combined for NINETEEN REBOUNDS on the day, and everyone that dressed today scored, other than Alisi, who was not at all 100% but still gave maximum effort for the time she was able to give us, and whose defense was instrumental in that third quarter run.

It was an excellent effort to cap what was a two games in less than 24 hours stretch, and the team came away with wins in both. Today's result moves the team to a 6-0 mark for the regular season, as we await the dates for the post season and also at least one more game to be added to the schedule.

Alisi, Ally, Ella B, Ella E, Jordyn, Lexi and Penny - just AWESOME work today.

Go Crusaders!
