Girl's Tennis Team Wins California Classic
Congratulations to the girls tennis team and their performance at the California Classic!!
Great work to all 18 Crusader Girls in Fresno for the California Classic this weekend. Very proud of each and every one of you.
We field two teams at the California Classic, and both did very well this year. Our Team 2 was placed in Division 3 - the highest classification yet for this bunch - and did quite well, going 2-2-1 for the weekend, finishing as the Runner Up in D3C, and placing 32nd overall, out of 70 teams. Several of the teams finishing below our Team 2 were league champions and playoff participants in their respective leagues. Well done!
For Team 1, the "Classic" timeline goes like this:
2018: Wrangle an invite, finish 4th overall, only loss to eventual champion
2019: 2nd place, lose Final on 2nd tiebreaker, 4-0-1 for the weekend
2020: No Tournament
2021: CHAMPIONS - going 5-0 for the weekend in the highest division and playing our best tennis in the Final, defeating a very tough Gregori High School team by a 6-0 score to capture our first ever Classic Championship!
The best part? After or during all ten matches we had players, coaches and other spectators saying how respectful we were of each other, our opponent, the site, everything. Very proud of everyone, all weekend.
