In the past the coaching staff has, and may again, make adjustments to the B team roster if it becomes clear that a player would be better served on the A Team, so that is a possibility.
Also, and this is KEY, placements are made for a variety of different reasons, and the goal is to put each player in the best position to improve as a tennis player. In many cases players on the B Team can be, and have been, competitive with A Team players, but the decision was made to be placed on the B team to ensure more playing time and thus a better opportunity to gain much needed match experience. We said this at the meeting and will repeat it here. This past Fall our Girls High School Team made the State Final Four, and two of the starters on that team began thier Faith tennis careers on the Middle School B Team! They took full advantage of the improvement pathway that the B team offers, and we are hopeful that this year's B Team members take that opportunity as well.
Right now the B Team is scheduled for a practice from 4pm-5:30pm on Thursday at DTC. However, please check your email as we may need to adjust that a bit based on a court crunch at DTC on that day. Caoch Jeff is working on it, and we will let everyone know as soon as we know.
Thank you to everyone that came to tryouts. Unfortunately we were not able to keep everyone this year, as numbers were quite high for the girls. Please know that these were very difficult decisions and we wish we could keep everyone. However, while we know that this news is not what some were looking to hear, we hope and pray that this does not discourage you from pursuing tennis, and from taking the time to improve your game in the upcoming months and hopefully trying again at the next opportunity. Not making this roster does not mean you will not make the next one, and we do hope to see some of you again. If you have specific questions about the decision, please do not hesitate to email Coach Jeff or Coach Keith, and we will do our best to answer those questions and provide feedback that can help you in your tennis development.
We close in prayer, saying Thank You to God for the opportunity to work with such wonderful young people at Faith, rejoicing with those that are happy with this news, and praying for Your comfort and strength for those that are saddened by this news. We know that ultimately You know the right path for our lives and will lead us on that path.
In Your Holy Name we pray, and als always, we thank God for His blessings on our student athletes and their families, and we pray taht we will honor Him in all we do, on the court and off.
