It's an annual tradition! We are celebrating National Lutheran School's Week (Jan 22 through 26) and kicking off our District's annual Hearts 4Jesus fundraising campaign. This year the benefactor of Hearts for Jesus is the Lutheran Special Education Ministries. Most schools are not as blessed as we are at Faith Lutheran - They do not have a Mark 10:14 program and most of them don't even have Resource services full time on their campus. Teachers from LSEM drop by and help students throughout Lutheran Schools all over the country! To kick start our efforts, we are bringing back the annual PENNY WAR!! Every day during National Lutheran Schools Week, the "jugs" will be set up in the lunch room. Remember pennies add positive points while silver coins or paper bills are negative points. The idea is to sabotage the other grades so your grade can win! Put pennies in your grade's jug and silver and paper in the other grade's jugs. Let's see how much money we can raise for Lutheran Special Education Ministries and have a little competitive fun doing it! Bless you for helping the district raise funds so schools throughout NV, CA and AZ can have access to special resources! (1/26)
Students must register their cars with the front officeand get a parking sticker, failure to do so may result in loss of driving privileges on campus. Thank you

The celebration will last for four days, and the students are preparing for a great celebration. Accessing PSAT Scores
All the PSAT scores from the exam taken in October are now available. The breakdown of each section, including the correct answers as well as a personalized study plan from Khan Academy can be found on your College Board account at collegeboard.org. If you have not yet, you will need to create a College Board account in order to see your scores. The directions are below. Please, please, please...if you have already created an account do not create another, as this will severely complicate all dealings with College Board in the future, from SAT's to AP's to eventually sending scores to colleges. If you can't remember if you already have an account, please go through the "forgot my password" or "forgot my username" process to be certain. Any issues with accounts need to be directed to College Board rather than Faith Lutheran. Paper copies of scores will not be distributed as College Board no longer sends paper scores, however there will be test score interpretation assemblies during advisories in January for further information and to answer any questions.
- Go to collegeboard.org
- Click “Sign Up”
- Go through the process of creating an account
- When done, sign in with your new username and password
- Click “PSAT 8/9”
- If your scores do not appear, click “Add Scores”
- You may be asked to enter your password again
- You may be asked to update/double check all your information
- Click “Update”
- Scores should now be viewable

DEVOTIONAL
He replied, "I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too." 1 Kings 19:10
Here’s another mistake that triggered Elijah’s depression: he exaggerated the negative. It’s that old ‘everybody’s against me!’ thinking. The fact is, almost nobody was against Elijah. Only one person opposed him, and her threat wasn’t real. Queen Jezebel didn’t dare kill Elijah. Think about it: if she’d really intended to kill him she wouldn’t have sent a messenger to warn him, she’d have sent a hit man! Jezebel feared Elijah’s influence. If he’d ended up a martyr, that would have increased his influence and likely caused a revolution. Having just witnessed what God did to the prophets of Baal, Jezebel was probably afraid of what God would do to her if she touched His prophet. So, her words were empty threats. But instead of stopping to realistically evaluate the situation, Elijah ran away. When we’re depressed we tend to exaggerate the negative. In reality, Elijah wasn’t the only person still faithful to God. There were seven thousand other prophets who hadn’t succumbed to pagan religion (see v. 18), but Elijah exaggerated the problem and ended up sinking lower than ever. If you feel depressed today, put your trust in God. Rise up and say, ‘This too shall pass. What does not destroy me will only make me stronger.’ Here’s a promise you can stand on with complete confidence: ‘Your goodness is so great! You have stored up great blessings for those who honor you. You have done so much for those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world’ (Psalm 31:19).
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me see things as they really are and not exaggerate the negative. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
