Crusaders Win the Opener!
The 2017 season got underway on Friday and the Girls pulled out a 13-8 win over Lamb Of God. Thanks to all the parents, and A Team players, that were there supporting the team!
The 6th Grade Girls B team started the season with a 13-8 win over Lamb of God on Friday, Janualry 20th. The Crusaders raced out to an 8-2 lead thanks to some great passing from Elyssa Bahr and Georgia Deibert and the scoring of Mac Grupe and Ashlee Baker. Defensively, Cate Martino was a force and the Crusaders held Lamb of God to just two points in the first half.
To thier credit, Lamb of God rallied to tie the game midway through the 3rd quarter, but then the Crusders clamped down on defense again, holding Lamb of God scoreless for the remainder of the game. Emma Camper made two very athletic defenseive plays, Tochi Ezeanolue somehow emerged from a scrum of hands to get a key steal, and Arriane Fouse had a couple of great hustle plays as well.
Elyssa and Cate really ramped up the defense in the 3rd and 4th quarters, and that led to steals that ended up in points for each of them. Overall, Mac ended up with six points, Elyssa three, Ashlee two, and Cate two.
As we talked about before the game, we had a lot of fun, we were good sports, and we represented Faith well. Extremely proud of everyone, and we hope Kayleigh is feeling better soon and can join us!
Go Crusaders!
