High School:
Seniors and your laptops!
ALL senior laptops must be re-imaged. If you do not have your laptop checked and re-imaged by our IT department, you will not receive your diploma! You must have this final re-image done, even if you had the laptop re-imaged recently!
We are thrilled to offer those seniors that have been here at Faith for the full 4 years, the ability to keep your laptop at no charge. We will need to wipe and reimage your laptop (all your information will be gone). We HIGHLY recommend making a backup (using Time Machine or just copy the files important to you). If you do not do that or need help on how to do that, please come to the library and visit the tech support room. If you bring your external drive with you, we will be glad to teach you how to get your data saved from the laptop, but we will NOT backup your data.
Also, if you do not want your laptop, consider leaving it with us. We take your old laptop, refurbish it, and donate it to less fortunate schools, churches, shut-ins, elderly, and other organizations. It is a way to bless others. Just let us know at check-in what you would like to do. Last year we had students donate their laptops to help under-privileged, churches, schools, and charities! How cool is that?
If you return the laptop damaged or missing charger, you will be charged for those repairs.
As a senior, can I get my laptop if I have not been here the full 4 years?
Possibly, you might be able to. It will depend on the model and year you got the laptop. It will be decided on a case by case basis. The minimal cost is $250 if you want to purchase the laptop (there can be additional charges for different models and age). Your laptop will need to be re-imaged. If you have been here less than 3 years, purchasing the laptop is not an option.
This offer to purchase your laptop will not be offered to any other grade. This is a way we can bless the seniors.
Q: When you re-image my laptop, will all my photos and files be lost?
A: Yes, if you did not back it up. Unfortunately, we cannot back up the files for you.
Q: When can I get it re-imaged?
A: As soon as you do not need the laptop for classes, please bring it in to re-image.
Once re-imaged, it cannot be on our school network anymore.
AGAIN! ALL senior laptops must be checked in and re-imaged.
If you do not have your laptop checked and re-imaged, by our IT department, you will not receive your diploma and transcripts will be on hold and there may be a fee charged to you for the cost of the laptop.
All devices that qualify to be returned to you, must be picked up by June 15th or will be considered abandoned and forfeited, the laptop will be donated.

DEVOTIONS
Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. (James 1:21) In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. God's people are to be holy people. It is how God designed it. Holiness reflects God's holiness. In the Garden of Eden man was created in the holy image of God. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, they lost that holiness. The inclination of the heart is opposed to the will of God. Left to ourselves, we want nothing to do with God's desire for us to be holy. Our condition is that we are dead in our transgressions with no ability whatsoever to come to God or to be holy as He is holy.
James uses language that reflects the passive nature of our salvation. On account of our sinful condition, we cannot come to God by our own power. Rather, it is God who comes to us. James' words are very specific. He says to "receive" the implanted Word. We do not accept the Word, but rather receive the Word. The doingness is through the work of the Holy Spirit and God's Holy Word is brought to us.
Often we will hear someone say that you need to "accept" the Word of God as truth. Unfortunately, that is the wrong language to use when we speak about our relationship with God. We "receive" His Holy Word. The burden is not on us, it cannot be on us, because we are spiritually dead in our sin. James does not stop with just conversion. He reminds his hearers about their new life in Christ. As children of God, we live in a constant tension between the Old Adam and the New Man in Christ. The Old Adam desires to pursue the wants of the flesh and live in filthiness and rampant wickedness. The New Man in Christ desires to live as a holy being, in the image of a holy God. In your Baptism you have put on Christ. Daily, the Old Adam is drowned and the New Man in Christ is resurrected. In that resurrection you live with the robe of Christ's righteousness over you. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
Hope of the world, afoot on dusty highways, Showing to wand'ring souls the path of light, Walk Thou beside us Lest the tempting byways Lure us away from Thee to endless night. ("Hope of the World" LSB 690, st.3)
-Rev. Timothy Davis is pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Athens, GA.
