The Canarelli Academic Support Center provides a comprehensive system of support to help students thrive in a college-preparatory environment. In alignment with our mission, “Everyone Prepared! Everyone Saved!”, services include Learning Profile Accommodation Plans, access to the Testing Center, and the Academic Support class for students who qualify for additional support. All students at Faith Lutheran may receive timely academic support during the school day through Academic Centers, and all students have access to free peer tutoring. Faculty regularly participate in professional development focused on learning disabilities and best instructional practices to ensure students are supported across the curriculum.

  • At times, students may fall behind or need extra, timely support during school hours. Based on academic performance, the Director of Academic Support assigns students to mandatory academic centers.

  • The Middle School and High School Academic Support Program provides Learning Profile Accommodation Plans (LPs) for students who qualify based on the review of a neuropsychological evaluation. Students in this program complete the same college-preparatory curriculum as their peers, without modifications and at the same pace.

The accommodations provided through a Learning Profile are designed to align with those typically offered at the college level. Each Learning Profile (LP) accommodation plan is developed and reviewed annually.

There is a per semester fee for this program.

  • Students with diagnosed learning disabilities who benefit from additional academic support during the school day may qualify for enrollment in the Middle School or High School Academic Support Class, while continuing to meet the expectations of Faith Lutheran’s college-preparatory curriculum.

During this class, students receive instruction in study skills, organization, and executive functioning. Educators provide both small-group and one-on-one support and help clarify and reinforce classroom instruction while students work on assignments, tests, quizzes, projects, and papers.

Academic Support Classes are intentionally kept small, typically around 14 students or fewer, to provide meaningful support and individualized attention.

The class is graded on a pass/fail basis and counts as an elective credit.

In addition to the program fee, there is an additional per semester fee for this class.

  • Students who need occasional homework help can meet with teachers before or after school during their office hours or they can take advantage of a number of peer tutoring opportunities before or after school led by high school Honors Societies.
