Big Sur is released. If you want to upgrade to it, there is ONE thing you MUST DO (beside make backups), open Examplify, login and upgrade to the most current version. Then and ONLY then you can upgrade to Big Sur. If you need help, please stop by IT support in the Library

FOOD TRUCK MADNESS IS COMING TO FAITH!!! 

Six different food trucks will be making their way to Faith each Friday in March. You can expect burgers, wings, fries, hotdogs/corndogs, tacos, shaved ice, and other specialty desserts. The food will not disappoint :) Take note of the day your grade is scheduled to attend below, and make sure to bring cash/card for that day as you can't use your school account. You may still bring your own lunch or buy from the cafeteria on these days if you choose.

Hey you! Are you interested in creating games, filming/making videos, designing posters, planning activities, making candy grams, and much more? Come and join the Black History Committee for 2021! Make posters of your favorite inspiring basketball player, or create scavenger hunts about your favorite black scientist. The Faith Lutheran Red Cross Club is having a blood drive on Thursday, April 8.  If you wish to donate, please click on the link to sign up.  Las Vegas is currently experience a shortage of blood donations, so thank you for your consideration!  Contact Mrs. Grant with any questions.

 

Faith Lutheran Academy is seeking for an energetic junior, or senior at least 16 years of age to be a counselor in our after school care Safe Key program.  The hours are from 3-5:30pm and require a strong Monday-Friday commitment.  Job responsibilities include: supervising children in grades K-4, assisting with homework help, organizing and leading recreational gym games, reading and sharing devotions and prayers, supporting in sanitizing and light cleaning.  If you are interested in applying or have any questions, please send an email with an attached resumé to: amy.yatsko@faithlasvegas.org

The Black History Month committee is hosting a school wide trivia competition and scavenger hunt all throughout February in which you will be able to win gift cards, candy or pizza! If you would like to participate in trivia, please email lauren.beals24@flhsemail.org. If you would like to do the scavenger hunt, please email tiana.Mitchell-kemp22@flhsemail.org before Thursday. You are more than welcome to participate in both activities! Please tell your friends, come join the fun and win these awesome prizes!!! (2/26)

 

Want to try a different spring sport, come check out lacrosse. All experience levels welcome. Sticks and goggles available for use. Just bring cleats (preferably), mouth guard, water and mask. Hosted by the MS and HS Girls Lacrosse Coaches on Tuesdays and Thursdays in February 2, 4, 9, 11 and 2/25, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on the soccer field. Attend as many as you'd like. Spanish tutoring is available in Mrs. Grant's room...224 on late start Tuesdays.  Hours are 7:30 to 8:30.  No appointment is necessary. (5/1)

Emails have been sent to all 7th graders who qualify to apply to NJHS.  Please note the deadline for submission is Thursday, March 4.  All applications must be delivered to Mrs. Grant's room no later than 3:20 p.m. on that day.  Please make sure you download the application before printing and completing it. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Abraham cherished the Third Commandment. He rejoiced in what the Lord had done to save him from believing in the fake gods of Ur. Though Abraham believed in Yahweh, he also had other gods. Better to be on the safe side.

But the LORD had promised Abraham. Eventually the LORD brought Abraham out of Ur, out of his mixed-up faith, and brought him into Canaan. The Lord would keep His promise, one He didn't just make to Abraham and to Isaac and Jacob after him. No, the Lord would keep His promise that He made to Adam and Eve: "Her Seed will crush [the serpent's] head" (Genesis 3:15). It's because of that promise that Yahweh saved Noah from the flood, promised Abraham, "in you all families of the earth shall be blessed," and it's because of that first Gospel promise that Yahweh renamed him from Abram to Abraham! Adam preached to Seth, Noah preached to Shem, Abraham preached to Isaac, and everyone in between and since! That's what the Third Commandment is all about! Rejoicing and receiving the Lord's promises and salvation.

It's not about checking a box off in your to-do list, though you should add going to church to that list. Calling on the Name of the Lord, the altar, is all about Jesus for you. For there we see that Jesus and His Father rule the universe so that we have a place to hear His Word, to listen to sermons, to eat and drink the Supper of His Body and Blood.

Someone built the church you worship at. Someone constructed the altar and pulpit and lectern. There's a guy there to preach to you. The Lord worked that all out for you, down to what's delivered there! Jesus died and risen--right time, right generation after Abraham. Just like Abraham built that altar to rejoice in the Lord who saved him, so also was your church built. Hearing about Jesus, Yahweh saves, is just what Abraham preached and rejoiced in. For Abraham, that Jesus was some 2,000 years later, for you, that Jesus was some 2,000 years ago.

But wherever the Lord's altar is, wherever there's calling on His Name, there He is with you, ust as He was with Abraham. In fact, Abraham's rejoicing right there with you!  In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
