HIGH SCHOOL

We know Apple will be releasing the next Operating System (OS) soon. This is MacOS 11 and called Big Sur. Please DO NOT UPGRADE TO IT!

It is a major upgrade/change and as of right now some of the software we use will need time to get their software compatible with the OS.

We will send out an email when it is O.K. to upgrade, but we cannot stress this enough, DO NOT UPGRADE to Big Sur (MacOS 11).

High School Boys Soccer tryouts will start on Saturday, February 20th from 10:00-11:30 am on the FLHS Soccer Field. Tryouts will continue on Monday, February 22nd from 3:15-5:00 pm on the FLHS Soccer Field. All players must have their Register My Athlete information completed and must bring a printed "Certificate of Completion" to the first tryout. Applied Christianity Applications are now available! If you signed up for Applied next year, please check your emails for more information, and pick up an application from Ms. Gieseke in room 214. She is available before and after school. The deadline to turn in the application is Thursday, February 11th, so please pick up your application ASAP! (2/11)

WORSHIP LEADERS!!! High School Praise Band Auditions are scheduled for Tuesday February 16th, 7:45 am in the CPAC. Please use this link to access the Praise Band Audition Packet. High School Volleyball Tryouts are February 20th from 8:30 am-12 pm in the Arena. Athletes must have their Registered My Athlete completed and a printed "Certificate of Completion" brought to the tryout. If you have not spoken to Coach Fisher or have not come to the VB interest meeting and you are interested in playing volleyball, please contact Coach Amy Fisher ASAP. (2/20)

If you were a part of the Orientation Crew for ignite or newsaders or any Link Crew leaders . . . please note: the yearbook photos for O-Cru (ignite & newsaders) and for Link small group leaders will be taken on Tuesday, February 16 in the Arena. HS Photos (Ignite & HSLink) will be taken at 8:15am and MS Photos (Newsaders & MSLink) will be taken at 8:30am. YOU MAY WEAR YOUR O-CRU OR LINK SHIRT TO SCHOOL ON THIS DAY :)

Do you like Gift Cards, Pizza or Candy?

The Black History Month committee is hosting a school wide trivia competition and scavenger hunt all throughout February in which you will be able to win gift cards, candy or pizza! HS Girls Lacrosse

Want to try a different spring sport, come check out lacrosse. All experience levels welcome. Sticks and goggles available for use. Just bring cleats (preferably), mouth guard, water and mask. Hosted by the MS and HS Girls Lacrosse Coaches on Tuesdays and Thursdays in February 2, 4, 9, 11 and 2/25, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on the soccer field. Attend as many as you'd like. If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. (2 Corinthians 11:30)

In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. No one likes a boaster. The one who boasts usually has an over-inflated sense of his own importance. She considers herself to be God's gift to the world. Boasting is not only off-putting because it greatly exaggerates a person's skills or accomplishments, but it also tends to belittle everyone else around.

Boasting is usually compensation for some serious deficiency. It puts forward an overstated image, hoping to divert attention away from what would otherwise be a glaring weakness. A person who boasts always has something to hide.

And that's precisely what we do before God. We want Him to think better of us than we deserve. Our default religious setting is to promote our piety and emphasize our spirituality. We want to show God that we are worthy of His kingdom, of His favor. We boast in our works, but our boasting comes from an over-inflated sense of our own importance, As if God needed our works. Our boasting is not good.

The Cross changes boasting. If there was anyone who had reason to boast, to show how He was worthy of God's kingdom, it was the Son of God. But He did not count equality with God as something to be prized (Philippians 2:6). Instead, He humbled Himself and became weak for our sake.

So, "If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness." That's the way of the Cross. We must become weak to see that Jesus is strong. And in Him we find our strength, and of Him we boast. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
