At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes we  will need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

DEVOTIONAL
Today’s Reading: Genesis 22:1-14
Daily Lectionary: Exodus 2:1-33; Mark 14:32-52
And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” (Genesis 22:12)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. What kind of God would ask anyone to do this? What kind of God would ask Abraham to give up his son, his only one? Does God really need to know that Abraham is faithful by using this test?
No, He doesn’t. He already knows everything there is to know about Abraham. He knows Abraham believes in Him and that he will pass this test. He knows what’s going to happen and what He’s going to do before He even sends Abraham to the mountain to sacrifice his son, his only son.
So why does God tell Abraham to kill his own son? He wants to point you to Jesus and show you salvation in His Son. He wants to show you in Abraham’s life that salvation is by grace alone through faith.
God stops Abraham from killing his son. He stays his hand. He provides for him what Abraham said He would provide: the sacrifice. For Abraham, it was a ram caught in the thicket. For you and me, the sacrifice was the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
This is all about Jesus’ Lent for you! You see it, don’t you? What God asks Abraham to do and then stops him from doing? He doesn’t stop when it comes to saving you. God gives up His Son, His only Son on the Cross to save you. For you, for your salvation, God sacrifices His Son. For the sin of the world, Jesus dies. He is the sacrifice that lasts longer than any bull, goat, or ram. Jesus is the sacrifice that makes us acceptable for all time. For God’s Son is true God, to die for all and for all time, and true man, to die for you and in your place.
Abraham believed God and God counted that faith as righteousness. You believe in God’s sending of His Son, His only Son, and God counts that faith as righteousness in His sight. Abraham’s faith and life point you to how God saves you: by faith alone in Jesus.
Why does God test you? The same reason that He tested Abraham: to save you and those around you. God puts trials and suffering in this life to bring you closer to Him and so that others can see His work in your life. When you only have Him to cling to—like Abraham did when God asked the impossible of him—you find the surest faith of all. You only have Jesus. As you go through all this life others see Him, too. They are uplifted and comforted to see your faith in Him. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
