COMMUNITY CRUSADER SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:
Gilbert Magnet School is looking for volunteers who need hours to help with our Spring Carnival.
Volunteers will help run the concessions, game booths, and help setup and teardown.
Date is Friday, May 3, 3:00- 7:00p

Who thinks they have what it takes to beat Coach Wilson and Mr. Morrill at a game of bowling????? Come and challenge Coach Wilson at our next Bowling Club gathering or just have fun bowling with your friends Wednesday, April 10 from 4-5 at Red Rock Bowling Center. Cost is $4 (includes 2 games and shoes) Email frederickd@flhsemail.org or cannitos@flhesemail.org to sign up. Gather your friends and see you at the lanes!
April 5th is our "FIRST FRIDAY FOOD FOR LINCOLN" day.
Lincoln Elementary on the east side of our valley is in serious need of food pantry items. It is nearly depleted...
Please bring non-perishable food items BEFORE school this FRIDAY and drop them off on the west side of the auxiliary gym by the sign.
Together we can make a difference!
COMMUNITY CRUSADER SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:
Once again, Horses4Heroes is looking for awesome teens to volunteer two weeks or more as summer camp counselors. We have a great new location and we are planning super fun activities, including two sleep overs! We have 10 openings per week. We will accept 13-year-olds on a select basis. We have to cap our campers at 30 so 10 counselors, ages 14 and older will be fine. Please email camps@horses4heroes.org for more information or to apply! Training starts in May.
HS Student Leadership Team 2019 . .. Come to the meeting with at least one of your parents at 6:30pm on April 8. We are meeting in Room 502. (4/8)
ROAR Vacation Bible School (VBS) is coming to Faith Community Lutheran Church from June 3 – 7, 2019! During VBS, we will bring the message of God’s goodness to 400 children through skits, games, Bible lessons, crafts, and much more! We have morning (9:00am-12:00pm) and evening (5:30pm-8:30pm) sessions and we need a lot of volunteers to make this a successful week! Various roles are available before, during and after the week. We would love to have you join our team!

EAT YOGURT AND KEEP OUR SENIORS SAFE! U-Swirl (On W. Charleston in Smith's Shopping Center) is hosting a Grad Nite fundraiser on April 4th from 4:00p-7:00p and will give 20% of all sales to help fund our Grad Nite event that keeps Seniors safe after their graduation ceremony. So stop by and enjoy a yummy frozen yogurt and smile because you are helping a great cause!
COMMUNITY CRUSADER SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:
High school volunteers needed for our annual Family and Friends of Opportunity Village picnic on April 13th. This is the perfect service project for high school students. We need them to help run the different stations of activities for the intellectually disabled clients. There will be about 10 stations including bowling, a bean bag toss, an Easter egg hunt, karaoke, etc. Two of the volunteers will help check people into the event and give out name tags.

2019 EASTER BASKET DRIVE benefiting the Children’s Heart Foundation will be in memory of Julian Castillo. Donations can be brought to the Faith Lutheran front office or To Mrs. Grant’s room in 224 through APRIL 12.

At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes we will need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

*Prepare a speech.
*Complete the questionnaire.
*See your counselor and the finance office for official signatures.
*Be ready to have a BLAST!
The application, parent permission, official signatures, and teacher recommendations are due by Thursday, April 11th! Together we will make a difference and have a great time doing it! Election Day is Monday, April 29th!

In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Today the newborn Christian Church of the past shows you the Christian life as they cling to the Lord’s Word and promises and love one another.
The Life of the Christian, your life, flows from the gifts. It is watered in Holy Baptism. It is the breath of God in your ears breathing forgiveness in Holy Absolution. You live not by bread alone but by every word that flows forth from the mouth of God. You are sustained and nourished by the Body and Blood of Jesus.
Christians gather around the gifts of the Spirit. They are drawn to them, dragged to them by Jesus’ Cross and resurrection. Where the gifts are, there is forgiveness and life. Apart from the gifts, there is no life and no salvation.
It’s not that you have to go to church to be saved. You go to church because you are saved. Someone who says he loves Jesus but can’t set foot in a church is like a person who says he loves his spouse but refuses to live with or visit her. You are the Bride of Christ. Jesus is giving you His Calvary-won gifts. Where He is, there you want to be.
The gift of salvation for you, achieved by Jesus through His Lent and Good Friday, also flows as gift through you to others. You love those around you. You visit the sick and call the lonely. You rejoice with those who rejoice and you weep with those who weep. You are of Christ and Christ is of God, so you can’t help but be Christ for others.
Faith also never points to itself. So you probably have no clue that you even do these things, or you try to forget them. Jesus loves you, so you love others. You don’t do it for reward or because you want to merit favor with God. A good tree bears good fruit, so you in Jesus give love to those around you.
He knows you don’t do what you want to, and you do what you don’t want to do most times. When you fail, it’s back to the gifts. Repent of your sins. Turn from where you have failed. Confess where your love has fallen short and be forgiven in the Lord’s Word and promises.
Faith in Jesus and love for your neighbor. That’s the Christian life. We believe that Jesus lived and died for us. We then love those around us with the love that He has given to us. We are repented and forgiven. That’s the life of faith and that’s the life shown to us by the Christian church in Acts. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
