At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes we  will need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

DEVOTIONAL
Today’s Reading: Exodus 16:2-21
Daily Lectionary: Genesis 42:1-34, 38; Mark 12:1-12
I have heard the grumblings of the children of Israel. Say to them, “In the evenings you shall eat meat and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord, your God.” (Exodus 16:12)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. The Lord saved the children of Israel. He brought them out of Egypt with a mighty and outstretched hand. They saw the Red Sea part. They walked across the Red Sea on dry ground. They saw Pharaoh and his hosts drowned behind them.
But the wilderness was dry. They were thirsty. They got hungry. Where was God? Why did He abandon them? Why had He brought them out of Egypt only to bring them to the wilderness to die?
Seems foolish, doesn’t it? Unbelief from the outside is so obviously foolish. God saved them from the Egyptians. Obviously, He will feed them in the wilderness. How could they doubt?
I wouldn’t judge them. Your unbelief is caused by similar things. Your money gets short. You lose your job and can’t find another one. Your grades aren’t what they are supposed to be. You don’t get into the college you want. The person you love leaves you. Your parents don’t understand you. Your sister gets sick. You get cancer. Someone hurts you. Someone does something awful to you.
Where’s God? Where’s God when things go wrong? Where is He when bad things happen? Why is He so distant?
Jesus. He saves you. You are saved in His Lent and suffering and death for you. His resurrection is your forgiveness before God and those around you. He is your righteousness. He is your sanctification.
Eyes on Jesus when bad things happen! Nothing in this life happens apart from Him. God doesn’t take a day off or forget your Baptism. You are and always shall be baptized. That means you are and always shall be His. Sure, you can fall away. But why would you? You believe that Jesus died and rose again for you. Jesus will save you.
God saved the children of Israel again, too. They didn’t even recognize or know what kind of food He gave them! They looked at this flaky substance on the ground and said, “Manna,” which means “What’s this stuff?” They ate the manna from heaven which saved them.
You have been given far better! Their food spoiled. You are saved by Food that doesn’t spoil. In the midst of all the suffering and darkness in your life, go and eat the Lord’s Food. Receive Jesus in His Supper. Eat His Body. Drink His Blood. His Body and Blood will sustain you through all your doubts and sufferings. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
