At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes we  will need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

DEVOTIONAL
Today’s Reading: Jeremiah 26:1-15
Daily Lectionary: Genesis 39:1-23; Mark 10:13-31
It may be they will listen and every one turn from his evil way that I may repent of the evil that I intended to do to them for their evil doings. (Jeremiah 26:4)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. The root of Hebrew word for “evil” (רעַ) is used three times in the above verse. There is the evil we do. There is the evil God doesn’t do to us. And again, there is the evil we do.
We do evil, daily and much. We are born evil. We live evil lives. Sin infects our relationships. It is the center of our motivation and corrupts even the good that we want to do. Evil is our modus operandi. It’s the way we work! In fact, evil so permeates the things we do and say, that right now you think I am overstating the case. But thinking, doing, and feeling evil is what it means to be born a sinner!
God does not commit sin. There’s no evil in Him. Everything that God does, everything that He says, all that He works in and through us is good. If God is doing it, it must be good.
So why did God say that He was going to do evil to the children of Israel? It’s a matter of perspective. His punishment and judgment are evil to us because we are so consumed by our evil perspective. It’s a calamity and a disaster. We don’t like it and often even Christians say that bad things come from Satan.
But in the midst of our evil and God’s not doing evil, don’t miss how God truly is! God doesn’t want to punish. That needs to be repeated: God doesn’t desire to do “evil” to people. He doesn’t want to strike you with lightning! He wants to save you!
God repents you of your sins. He turns you from the evil that you have done. He threatens “evil” and “punishments” in His Law in order to get you to repent of your sins and live a new life in His Son. He kills you with His Law in order to enliven you with His Gospel.
Anyone who tells you God delights in punishing or that He likes it doesn’t understand the Father or parenting at all! Parents don’t like to do “evil” to their children. They discipline their kids because they have to! God is the same way. He punishes because He has to,
God has taken the greatest evil that has ever happened, the death of His Son, and used it to save sinners from their evil. Jesus’ Lent and Good Friday show us that God did the evil due you to His Son.
Today marks the middle of the season. Celebrate it by repenting of your sins. Turn from them! God will relent from the Law that He puts on you. You will not see hell. You will not see punishment. Jesus endured it for you. You get life—His life. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
