At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes we  will need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

DEVOTIONAL
Today’s Reading: Ephesians 5:1-9
Daily Lectionary: Genesis 35:1-29; Mark 9:33-50
For at one time you were darkness, now you are Light in the Lord. Walk as children of the Light. (Ephesians 5:8)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. You were once in darkness. Not anymore! Now, in Jesus, you are Light in the Lord. What comfort! What joy! You were damned but now you are not!
When I first began reading the Scriptures in high school, I would read something like the rest of this verse with great fear. “Walk as children of the Light” sounds like I have to work and strive to be a child of Light. Save me from such a life!
“I thought I was saved by grace alone! I thought Jesus trumped my works before God! Why would God free me from the Law’s demands only to put me back under the Law?”
Jesus doesn’t put you back under the Law. You don’t begin your salvation by the Spirit only to be made perfect before God by the works done by your flesh! God doesn’t save you by faith in Jesus only to tell you afterwards what you have to do.
Whenever you think a word in Scripture doesn’t agree with everything else in the Scriptures, it’s time to look closer at that word. God’s Word can’t err. You may err, and I definitely am capable of making a mistake. But the Word of God cannot err!
Jesus is the Light of the world. In Christ we are children of God. In Jesus we stand before God totally and completely light-ed. He’s the Light. In Him we are children of Light. So “to walk as children of the Light” means first to be who you are in Christ. You are a child of the Light. In the light, there’s no darkness.
Get rid of the darkness! Confess your sins. Come clean before God about your darkness. Tell Him your sins. Confide in Him your evil deeds and leave them all behind! Never pick them up again!
Don’t stop walking yet! Confession is just the first part of being a child of Light! The next step is the best one: You are forgiven! Your sins are remembered no more. You are lighted by the Light of the World!
That’s life in the Light! It’s walking through this life confessing your sins and trusting in Jesus’ Lent and Good Friday-earned forgiveness. You shine with His forgiveness! You are lit up so bright that you can’t help but light up others. It’s not your light that shines! Jesus is the Light of the World. His Light shines so brightly in you that you can’t help believing in Him and doing good to others. After all, you are a child of the Light. It’s how you roll. Light is how you walk. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
