At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes we  will need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

DEVOTIONAL
Today’s Reading: Romans 5:1-5
Daily Lectionary: Genesis 24:1-31; Mark 7:24-37
And so having been justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Today St. Paul teaches us a tough Lenten lesson: God works through suffering for my good.
You are justified by faith in Jesus. You are forgiven. You are a child of God and an heir to everything. Everything that could separate you from God has been taken on by Jesus. Now everything that was Jesus’ has been given to you! What a sweet swap! You get what Jesus deserves since He got what you deserve!
You are in the grace of God. You stand in grace and splash in grace in the waters of Holy Baptism. Your ears are filled with grace in the Holy Absolution. You have grace put into your mouth at the Lord’s Supper.
So when it comes to suffering, don’t think God is “punishing” you. The sickness you suffer may not be from Satan. The hardships aren’t necessarily evil.
Yes, you deserve punishment for your actions. You can’t dodge your sinfulness in your suffering. Some suffering befalls you without warning and cannot possibly be your fault. Other things happen because of your own actions. So when bad happens in this life to you, begin by repenting to God of your sins: “I’ve sinned. My sin wrecks everything in my world. My own actions and failures cause so much damage to my world that I can’t avoid real repentance for the stuff that happens to me.”
Then God’s forgiveness comes, and with it, the reminder that He is pleased with you because of Jesus alone. God doesn’t put you in His dog house or make you suffer for your sins. Jesus was already put in God’s doghouse and suffered for you in your place. God gives to you His unmerited favor. His grace covers your sins. His forgiveness and mercy shield you from the punishment of God—it fell upon Jesus.
In His forgiveness, you can see the sufferings of this life in a whole different way; the trials He gives to you create endurance. That endurance that God works in you produces character. His character produces hope—hope that never disappoints.
Jesus is going to take your sufferings and grow you in them. He is going to teach you to have a greater and deeper relationship with Him. He will remove the things you trust in, leaving only Jesus—the Jesus who saves you. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings… (Romans 5:3a)
