At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes wewill need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

DEVOTIONAL
Today’s Reading: Genesis 32:22-32
Daily Lectionary: Genesis 18:1-15; Mark 6:14-34
He said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, for you have wrestled with God and with men, and have prevailed.” (Genesis 32:29)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. You don’t know anything about God except what Jesus shows you in the Scriptures. You don’t!
You know you are a sinner. That means that all of you is a sinner! Your heart is sinful. Your mind is sinful. What you think and feel is, yes, you got it, sinful. Your God-compass is completely off. You can look at the stars and figure out that there might be a creator. But a God who loves you? You’ve got no clue! So today, you need to repent of all your thoughts about God and get new ones from the Scriptures!
Today we run up against a God who breaks all the rules about God! When man wrestles with God, man isn’t supposed to win. God is supposed to win. He is, after all, God. Duh! God always wins!
Jacob teaches you otherwise. He wrestled all night with God. He fought Him. He put Him in a headlock and wouldn’t let go! God blessed Jacob and named him Israel because he wrestled with God and won!
To save you, Jesus throws out the “can’t wrestle with God” rule, too! Jesus shows you God for you: beaten up by men, punched by sinners, mocked and ridiculed. After all that beating we take Him, strip Him naked, divide up His clothes, drive nails into God’s hands and feet, and then lift Him up from earth and let Him hang there until God dies.
God dies. You are saved, Jesus is abandoned. You will never be abandoned by God. God suffers hell. In Jesus, you will never ever see hell. No! You get the sweet end of the deal: life eternal in His Name.
Yes, you are His Israel. You wrestle with Him. You win, too. He died, but in His death He has given new life in His name! He has put His Name on you and saved you.
When things don’t go well for you in life, tell God. Throw out the pious thoughts that He is beneath such tussling. He’s gotten into the mud of your life and in the dust of your death to save you. So let God have it when things don’t go well. Tell Him that you aren’t happy with His decisions. He can handle it. He has been God for a long time.
Then, repent and watch Jesus for you. Learn from Him how God loves even you in Jesus’ Good Friday sacrifice. Trust the unthinkable. Because Jesus lives, whatever you are angry about, whatever is upsetting you, is going to work out for your good and the good of those around you. It has to because you only know about God because of what Jesus has done for you. He Lented and died to save you, so you simply must be saved. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
