At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes wewill need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

DEVOTIONAL
1. Do you believe that you are a sinner? Yes, I believe it. I am a sinner.
2. How do you know this? From the Ten Commandments which I have not kept. (The Small Catechism: Christian Questions 1-2)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. “You have to eat all your veggies or you don’t get dessert,” Mom used to say. Luther says something similar: “No Lord’s Supper unless you confess your sins.”
Am I a sinner? Yes, I am. I’ve sinned against you in thought, word, and deed. I’ve not loved you with my whole heart. I’ve not loved my neighbor as myself. I really do deserve your present and eternal punishment. But I don’t feel sinful always. I feel like I’m doing okay.
You see, we are so sinfully lost, so full of ourselves, so consumed with what’s going on with us that we can’t figure out on our own that we are sinners. Sure, we feel bad about ourselves sometimes, even guilty, but our true sinfulness can only be revealed to us from outside ourselves, from the Ten Commandments
The Ten Commandments, from outside us, tell us how we are before God. We don’t truly love and fear God above all things. We misuse His Name. We despise His Sabbath. We don’t honor our parents as we should. We may not murder or cheat on our spouses, but we hate and we are filled with lust. We cut corners and borrow without returning—that’s called stealing. We destroy the reputations of others with our gossip and our lies. We covet EVERYTHING—from people to things, even sometimes our own stuff.
For such sinners who sin so much and are so deep in their sins that they don’t even know how bad their situation is, there is only Jesus and His Lent. He kept the Commandments and counts His keeping of God’s Law as if we did it. On the Cross, He who knew no sin became our sin. In His holy life, suffering and death for you, you have the righteousness of God.
But you won’t find what was won for you by dragging yourself to the Cross. No, having eaten your veggies and confessed your sins, you’ll find Jesus—or Jesus will come to you—in the Lord’s Supper. There Jesus gives all the forgiveness that He won for you!
I am a sinner. I believe it because the Ten Commandments told me. I didn’t figure it out. Sometimes I don’t feel it or think about it, but God’s Word doesn’t lie. I’m a sinner.
Now, it’s time for the Supper. Take eat, His Body given for you. Take drink, His Blood shed for you for the forgiveness of your sins.Your sins are forgiven. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
