At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes wewill need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

DEVOTIONAL
Today’s Reading: Isaiah 35:3-7
Daily Lectionary: Genesis 2:4-25; Mark 1:29-45
Say to those who are faint at heart, ‘Be strong! Don’t fear! Your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and He will save you. (Isaiah 35:4)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. When the Christ came He was supposed to fix everything. He would knock the noses off the Romans for God’s people and free them from oppression. Whoever was persecuting or hurting the children of Israel would be done in by God’s anointed one, His Messiah, His Christ.
Everything would be perfect—the eyes of the blind would be opened, the ears of the deaf unstopped, the lame would start to leap like deer, the mute would sing for joy. Water would break forth in the desert. The hot sand would become like a cool pool. The thirsty ground would suddenly be filled with springs of water. God would save His people.
But Jesus is just so Jesus, ordinary and every day. He seems to be just a man. He doesn’t own anything. He has no army. No Romans are conquered. No earthly king is overthrown. How can He save anyone? He can’t even save Himself!
Lent. That’s the answer! Jesus shows that He is the Christ, the Anointed One of God, in His Lent for you. He rescues you from the real things that oppress you: your sins, your evil, your failures, and your death. His death on Good Friday is your salvation, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His resurrection is your forgiveness now and forever.
In Christ you have eternal life—flowing from the waters of your Baptism, sustained by the Word, enlivened by the Absolution of your pastor, and fed by His very Body and Blood given for you to eat and drink for the remission of all your sins. God has come and He has rescued you. You have eternal life where He makes everything right: no more tears, no more pain, no more suffering, no more hunger, all sunny days forever and ever. The lion lies down with the lamb. Swords are beaten into plow shears. No more war. No more death.
He’s the true Christ on the Last Day when all your enemies are put under His feet. What’s true on the Last Day is also true today—even in your suffering and pain and loss. Christ is your salvation in your hurt, your Savior in your rejection, your happiness in your sadness, your light in the darkness of your loneliness and hurt.
Be strong. Look up. Don’t fear. Your God has come. He has come and taken the vengeance of God upon Himself. He has paid you back double for all your sins. He will save you because He saved you on the cross. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen
