At Faith Lutheran High School, we have been blessed to provide devices for students to use while at Faith and to offer them, upon graduation, to students that have been here for the full 4 years. We also allowed seniors who have been here for less than 4 years to purchase the school’s laptop. This will be changing this year.
This year Apple has changed the MacBook Air line up and because of these changes wewill need to modify expectations on the way we sell MacBook Air to seniors.
In the past, seniors could purchase their laptops if they had been at faith less than 4 years. Students that have been with Faith the full four years were given the school’s laptop at no cost. This has been changed.
We need to make sure we can support all the future classes of students and the changes we will make to sell laptops will be that we will not sell laptops to students that have been here less than 3 years. If you have been here 3 years or more and less than the full 4 years, the laptop can be purchased for $300 (unless that device is a newer model than what was originally assigned which may be more). Laptops, if found damaged, will incur fees to repair.
We also must state that future offerings to students that are here less than the full 4 years is not a guarantee. We may have to restrict this more in the future.
If you are not a senior completing your full four years and are not returning to Faith, we will not sell the school’s laptop to you.

Remember the Faith Peer Support counselors are available any time to assist. Services include specialized tutoring, one on one sessions between yourself and a fellow student, Student mediation, and much more. WE HAVE AN EMAIL NOW!! please don't hesitate to inform if you see or hear something you are worried about. Emails are anonymous, please speak up. No problem is too insignificant.
COMMUNITY CRUSADER SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:
Love Never Fails is looking for high school student volunteers. Volunteer opportunities include set-up, greeting guests, attending tables, serving food, explaining special events, and cleaning up. This event will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019.
Volunteers would be needed to set-up tables from 7:00-8:00 pm on Friday, March 15, 2019. For the event on March 16th, volunteers are needed from 1:00-3:00 pm (event preparation), 5:00-9:00 pm (event service), and from 7:30-10:00 pm (event clean-up).

Online Health Sign-up for High School Students
If you are in need of completing your high school health credit, the Spring 2 session of online Health begins March 25. If you would like to be enrolled in this class, you must fill out the form at the link below by Friday March 15. You will be charged an extra $350 on your tuition bill for this class unless you have a study hall, late arrival or early dismissal in your 2018-2019 class schedule. If you took Health in 8th grade here at Faith or have taken Health at Las Vegas Day School, Adelson, Cornerstone, Alexander Dawson, Lake Mead Christian Academy or The Meadows in 7th or 8th grade, your high school Health requirement is already complete and you do not need this class. SAT & ACT Class
In cooperation with Princeton Review, Faith Lutheran is offering Princeton Review's Ultimate combined ACT & SAT course on campus, which includes 25 hours of instruction and 4 full-length diagnostic practice exams on Saturday mornings at 9:00. This course is valued at $1099, but Faith students can take it for only $599. The next available course starts with a practice test on January 26 and will run mostly Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, concluding just before the March SAT and April ACT. The following class will begin with a practice test on April 6 and will run mostly Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, concluding just before the June SAT and June ACT. Exact dates for the classes are listed below. To sign up please fill out the form at this link by by March 22 for the Spring class. Daily Lectionary: Genesis 1:20-2:3; Mark 1:14-28
In this Christian church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers. (Small Catechism: Third Article, Part 2)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. God is everywhere. The Spirit is in the calm of the eye of a hurricane and in the tornado that destroys everything in its path. He’s in your heart. He’s in the place where you are happy. He’s in places where you are devastated. He’s in the comfort of home and the fear and loneliness of death. Everywhere is everywhere.
But in all those places, the Spirit isn’t necessarily there “for you.” In fact, there is more evidence that God is against you than for you. After all, we confessed yesterday how sinful we are and that we are undeserving of His graciousness and His presence.
God is for you where He puts Himself for you. The Spirit is for you in Christ’s Church. The Spirit is in the Word—read, preached, sung, and chanted. He’s in the water and Word of Holy Baptism, and the Absolution which is the very voice of the Gospel. He’s in the bread and wine that is His Body and Blood given for the remission of your sins.
Is God only in church? No, He’s everywhere. Isn’t He in the Word read at home? Yes, He is. But most of all, clearest of all, He’s in the gifts given at church.
The Christian faith isn’t a loner religion. God wants you to be around others that He made and redeemed—to build up, to bring joy, to fill with the forgiveness of sins achieved by Jesus on the Cross. Sooner or later the Spirit is going to draw you, drag you, to His Church.
The gifts give the Spirit and “the Spirit works faith when and where He pleases in those who hear the Gospel,” (AC V). The gifts give what Jesus did on the Cross. Baptism saves because Jesus saves. The Word saves because Christ did a Lent for us and died on the cross. At the Lord’s Supper you eat and drink salvation because Christ gave Himself for you on the Tree. Absolution delivers His forgiveness because Jesus actually rose from the dead.
The everywhere-ness doesn’t save you. But when God puts Himself in a place for you, then He does what He has promised to do. He takes Lent, Holy Week, Good Friday, and Easter and delivers them to you. Faith, which is born of the gifts, is enlivened by the Spirit and grasps the promise of the Gospel and we are saved.
We are saved. His gifts keep us in the faith. They keep us saved. That’s the Spirit’s work to create faith and to sustain it in His Church. In the gifts you have life. Flowing from His forgiveness, you have eternal life now and forever. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
