COMMUNITY CRUSADER SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:
Volunteers needed on February 23 for the JDRF Type One Nation Summit. This all day event will be held at the South Point Hotel and Casino from 7:00am - 4:00pm. There are many different volunteer opportunities available.
Online Health Sign-up for High School Students
If you are in need of completing your high school health credit, the Spring 2 session of online Health begins March 25. If you would like to be enrolled in this class, you must fill out the form at the link below by Friday March 15. You will be charged an extra $350 on your tuition bill for this class unless you have a study hall, late arrival or early dismissal in your 2018-2019 class schedule. If you took Health in 8th grade here at Faith or have taken Health at Las Vegas Day School, Adelson, Cornerstone, Alexander Dawson, Lake Mead Christian Academy or The Meadows in 7th or 8th grade, your high school Health requirement is already complete and you do not need this class. Love Kung-fu movies, Boba tea, or fresh dumplings?
Chinese/Lunar New Year is Feb 5! This holiday is celebrated in China, Korea, China, Vietnam and Thailand- and lasts 4 days. The International Student Association has a week's worth of plans for the FLHS student body next week including learning how to play Mahjong, how to fold dumplings, and how to make your own Boba at home! There will be events at lunch as well as after school! Check out the fliers around school, or the ISA instagram (@flhsisa) to get more details. COMMUNITY CRUSADERS SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:
The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health is looking for 15 – 20 student volunteers to help out with setting up for their annual Power of Love Gala on March 13 at MGM Grand Garden Arena. SAT & ACT Class
In cooperation with Princeton Review, Faith Lutheran is offering Princeton Review's Ultimate combined ACT & SAT course on campus, which includes 25 hours of instruction and 4 full-length diagnostic practice exams on Saturday mornings at 9:00. This course is valued at $1099, but Faith students can take it for only $599. The next available course starts with a practice test on January 26 and will run mostly Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, concluding just before the March SAT and April ACT. The following class will begin with a practice test on April 6 and will run mostly Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, concluding just before the June SAT and June ACT. Exact dates for the classes are listed below. To sign up please fill out the form at this link by by March 22 for the Spring class. Love prizes??? Who doesn't??! Come to the StuCo-hosted 7/8th grade basketball games on Thursday, February 7th. 7/8 A girls play Dawson at 5:30 and 7/8 A Boys play SLAM Academy at 6:30 in the Aux Gym. StuCo will be giving out raffle tickets at the door and raffles will be held throughout the games. Prizes include: Taco Bell gift certificates, CANE'S gift cards, t-shirts and an autographed basketball!!! You will not want to miss the fun! (2/7)

DEVOTIONAL
Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. (Romans 13:10)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. All you need is love. But whose love do you need? Whose love is going to fulfill the Law? Your love? My love? Not likely. “Love does no wrong to the neighbor.” Which one of us can say that we perfectly love our neighbor? Which one of us can say we’ve always spoken kindly of our neighbor, helped him to defend his possessions, and supported him in every physical need? Not a one of us. Our love stinks. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
And just in case we’re tempted to fight against this declaration of our sin, St. Paul holds up the Ten Commandments. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the loveliest of all? Not you. Not me. We love ourselves too much. If it’s up to us and our love to fulfill the Law, our love isn’t good enough.
However, Jesus’ love is. For God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). God loved the world in this manner, that He sent Christ to be crucified for you. Where we are selfish, Christ is selfless. Where we think only of ourselves, Christ thinks, lives, and dies for others. Where we love ourselves, Christ perfectly loves His neighbor. Jesus loves you unto death.
But there’s more. All those Ten Commandments you can’t, won’t, and don’t keep: Jesus kept those for you, too. Why? Because He loves you. Jesus does what you are unable to do. In His perfect life and His perfect sacrifice for sins, Jesus keeps the Law for you and fulfills the Law for you.
And Jesus extends His love from the cross to you. Jesus’ love is there for you in your Baptism, for you in the Absolution, for you in His Word, and for you in His Body and Blood. Jesus’ love is all you need. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
