Penny War! The annual penny war for Lutheran Schools Week will take place from January 28 – February 8! Pennies are worth positive points and dimes, quarters, nickels, and dollars are worth negative points. The goal is to get the highest points for your grade. The jugs for high school will be located in the cafeteria and the middle school jugs will be in front of Dr. Knorr’s office. (2/1)
As a part of Sadie’s week, on Thursday, February 7 from 7:00-9:00pm, the Student Leadership team is hosting the Annual Faith Lutheran Dodgeball Tournament in the student center. The tournament is played with teams of 5-7 players. The tournament itself is double elimination, so get ready for a night of competitive fun! Both boys and girls can play, and student coaches are encouraged! Only the first 20 teams are allowed to participate, so if you are interested in signing up, email Saige Schweitzer (saige.schweitzer21@flhsemail.org) your team roster and get ready for a competitive night! The Deadline to sign up is February 1st!

COMMUNITY CRUSADERS SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:
The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health is looking for 15 – 20 student volunteers to help out with setting up for their annual Power of Love Gala on March 13 at MGM Grand Garden Arena. SAT & ACT Class
In cooperation with Princeton Review, Faith Lutheran is offering Princeton Review's Ultimate combined ACT & SAT course on campus, which includes 25 hours of instruction and 4 full-length diagnostic practice exams on Saturday mornings at 9:00. This course is valued at $1099, but Faith students can take it for only $599. The next available course starts with a practice test on January 26 and will run mostly Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, concluding just before the March SAT and April ACT. The following class will begin with a practice test on April 6 and will run mostly Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, concluding just before the June SAT and June ACT. Exact dates for the classes are listed below. To sign up please fill out the form at this link by by March 22 for the Spring class. There is a Middle School Mock Trial info meeting on January 30th at 5:30pm in the CPAC.
If you are interested in competing in this year's MS mock competition please plan to attend this meeting.
Registration for MS mock starts February 1. Practices begin March 4th. The MS mock Tournament will be held on Saturday, March 30th. (1/29)

In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. What makes Baptism so special? It’s just water isn’t it? No, it’s not “just water.” It’s water with God’s Word added. Most of the churches that surround you probably don’t think that Baptism saves you. They won’t teach that it forgives your sins and gives you eternal life. They won’t rejoice that in Baptism you are clothed with Christ and given new birth from above.
That sounds just like Naaman! Elisha told him to go wash in the Jordan and his leprosy would be gone. Naaman thought that was the stupidest thing he had ever heard, especially since they had way better rivers back home. But what happened? His servants convinced Mr. Hardhead to get in the river and his leprosy was gone. Does that mean the Jordan River was better? No. The difference is that THAT water had God’s command and promise attached to it. When that is the case, you can be sure it will do what it says.
Jesus died on the cross to forgive our sins. But how do you know that forgiveness is also truly for YOU? Baptism! The Bible tells us in lots of places all the good things that Baptism does. If God’s Word says that Baptism does such great things, who are we to argue? Rather, we are to say “Amen” and rejoice that the Lord has given such a gift.
Most people think of Baptism as a religious ceremony. It’s something nice to do or a good tradition, but it doesn’t really DO anything. God says it’s a holy washing of forgiveness and life! When you were brought to the font, probably as a baby, did you believe? Neither did Naaman. But once the water and Word were upon him, he was cleansed. When that water and Word were splashed upon you, you were cleansed from all your sin and the Lord made you His own dear child, because that’s what He said happens! In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
