COMMUNITY CRUSADER SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:
Healing Hearts Giving Hope is a bereavement support group for parents who have lost a baby at birth or shortly thereafter. Family and friends of the parents who have suffered a loss usually attend the event with the parents.   This is Las Vegas' 28th annual Walk.  The Walk to Remember is a national Walk which is held in several cities throughout the month of October across the United States.  Healing Hearts Giving Hope is a non-profit organization under IRS code 501(c)3. This year the Walk to Remember is from 11 am to 1:30 pm on Saturday, October 6.   The event is held at the Children's Memorial Park located at 6601 W Gowan Road.  Set up will start at 9:30 am for the following:
  • Fill 150 balloons with helium
  • Set up canopies
  • Set up tables - we will have 14 tables to be set up and plastic table cloths taped to them
  • Unpack storage bins full of craft supplies and place on the tables
  • Hang quilts on the cyclone fence (each year a new quilt is made and each family decorates a square for their baby) We bring out all of the previous year quilts as well to display on the fence
  • Face painting for the kids
  • Help the kids with decorating their small pumpkin with adhesive pumpkin decorating craft kits
  • Cut long pieces of ribbon and tie it to limbs on our "memorial" tree
  • Accept silent auction items from families as they arrive and complete a form with description of item, value, and donor's name.
  • Greet the families at the greeting table and ask them to sign our guest book.  We use those addresses in the guest book for the Walk invitation mail out each year.
  • We have two piñatas filled with candy; one is for the children age 6 and under and the other is for the older ones.  The piñatas are tied to a tree branch and the kids line up for a chance to take a swing at the piñata. There will be goodie bags which will need to be passed out to the kids for their candy from the piñatas.
We know some students can't stay for the entire event.  We totally understand their schedules may only allow set up or tear down which is fine - set up from 9:30 am to 11 am and tear down from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm.  If some would like to stay for the whole event there will be plenty of food so they can feel free to help themselves.  For those students who would like to work with the kids and their activities it will be from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm.   We really need help with the kids and their activities so we can keep them occupied with the planned activities.
We are always so thankful for the students' assistance.  The students may contact me at this email or by cell phone, 702.845.6526. (10/6)

DEVOTIONAL
Protected By the Blood of Jesus
They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Revelation 12:11
Irene Park became a committed Christian. Her story is remarkable. She was once a high witch in the state of Florida, seducing boys and girls into occult activities. She stated that the children she could never reach were those whose parents protected them by praying over them in the name of Jesus, standing on the merits of Christ’s atoning blood. Today the occult has made its way into some of our public school systems under the guise of ‘pluralism’ and ‘free speech’. If you’re a parent, you should be concerned! It’s wise to give your child a mobile phone or pager so they can stay in touch with you. But the most powerful defense you can give them is praying over them in the name of Jesus and standing on the merits of His shed blood. Jesus defeated Satan at the cross. And today He’s saying to you, ‘My victory is your victory, and My authority is your authority – use it!’ You must acknowledge the existence of the devil, but you must not be afraid of him because ‘greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world’ (1 John 4:4). To deny the existence of Satan or underestimate his power gives him the advantage over you. But God has given you the key to overcoming Satan’s power in your life: ‘And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.’ Start declaring what the blood of Jesus has done on your behalf. When you do, you’ll begin to walk in victory.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, by Your Victory, by Your blood – I have victory over Satan as long as my focus remains on You. In the Precious Name of Jesus, Amen
