It's an annual tradition!  We are celebrating National Lutheran School's Week (Jan 22 through 26) and kicking off our District's annual Hearts 4Jesus fundraising campaign.  This year the benefactor of Hearts for Jesus is the Lutheran Special Education Ministries.  Most schools are not as blessed as we are at Faith Lutheran - They do not have a Mark 10:14 program and most of them don't even have Resource services full time on their campus.  Teachers from LSEM drop by and help students throughout Lutheran Schools all over the country!  To kick start our efforts, we are bringing back the annual PENNY WAR!!  Every day during National Lutheran Schools Week, the "jugs" will be set up in the lunch room.  Remember pennies add positive points while silver coins or paper bills are negative points.  The idea is to sabotage the other grades so your grade can win!  Put pennies in your grade's jug and silver and paper in the other grade's jugs.  Let's see how much money we can raise for Lutheran Special Education Ministries and have a little competitive fun doing it!  Bless you for helping the district raise funds so schools throughout NV, CA and AZ can have access to special resources! (1/26)

Students must register their cars with the front officeand get a parking sticker, failure to do so may result in loss of driving privileges on campus.  Thank you

Accessing PSAT Scores
All the PSAT scores from the exam taken in October are now available. The breakdown of each section, including the correct answers as well as a personalized study plan from Khan Academy can be found on your College Board account at collegeboard.org. If you have not yet, you will need to create a College Board account in order to see your scores. The directions are below. Please, please, please...if you have already created an account do not create another, as this will severely complicate all dealings with College Board in the future, from SAT's to AP's to eventually sending scores to colleges. If you can't remember if you already have an account, please go through the "forgot my password" or "forgot my username" process to be certain. Any issues with accounts need to be directed to College Board rather than Faith Lutheran. Paper copies of scores will not be distributed as College Board no longer sends paper scores, however there will be test score interpretation assemblies during advisories in January for further information and to answer any questions.
-       Go to collegeboard.org
-       Click “Sign Up”
-       Go through the process of creating an account
-       When done, sign in with your new username and password

-       Click “Update”

DEVOTIONAL
Don’t Be So Self-Absorbed
Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4
Do you want to maintain other people’s respect? When they share their struggles and successes with you, don’t say, ‘That’s nothing; let me tell you about my...!’ Haman, a Persian government official mentioned in the book of Esther, was self-absorption personified. He ‘boasted to [his friends and wife] about his vast wealth, his many sons, and all the ways the king had honored...and...elevated him above the other nobles and officials’ (Esther 5:11). Not once do we read of his expressing interest in anyone but himself. Indeed, he was so resentful of the favor the king had shown towards Mordecai, a Jew, that he built gallows on which to hang him. And how did the story end? The king hanged Haman on the gallows he had built for Mordecai. So, unless you want to tie a noose around your own neck, stop talking so much about yourself! Chances are you may not even be aware of this character flaw in your communication. So, ask God to point it out when you do it, and give you grace to overcome it. Self-centeredness dies slowly, so start with small steps. Try going for a whole day without making your issues the focus of every conversation. Give everyone you meet your full attention - and watch your friendships multiply and your relationships deepen. The word for you today is: ‘Look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.’
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to focus more on others and on You than on myself. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
