It's an annual tradition!  We are celebrating National Lutheran School's Week (Jan 22 through 26) and kicking off our District's annual Hearts 4Jesus fundraising campaign.  This year the benefactor of Hearts for Jesus is the Lutheran Special Education Ministries.  Most schools are not as blessed as we are at Faith Lutheran - They do not have a Mark 10:14 program and most of them don't even have Resource services full time on their campus.  Teachers from LSEM drop by and help students throughout Lutheran Schools all over the country!  To kick start our efforts, we are bringing back the annual PENNY WAR!!  Every day during National Lutheran Schools Week, the "jugs" will be set up in the lunch room.  Remember pennies add positive points while silver coins or paper bills are negative points.  The idea is to sabotage the other grades so your grade can win!  Put pennies in your grade's jug and silver and paper in the other grade's jugs.  Let's see how much money we can raise for Lutheran Special Education Ministries and have a little competitive fun doing it!  Bless you for helping the district raise funds so schools throughout NV, CA and AZ can have access to special resources! (1/26)

Students must register their cars with the front officeand get a parking sticker, failure to do so may result in loss of driving privileges on campus.  Thank you

Accessing PSAT Scores
All the PSAT scores from the exam taken in October are now available. The breakdown of each section, including the correct answers as well as a personalized study plan from Khan Academy can be found on your College Board account at collegeboard.org. If you have not yet, you will need to create a College Board account in order to see your scores. The directions are below. Please, please, please...if you have already created an account do not create another, as this will severely complicate all dealings with College Board in the future, from SAT's to AP's to eventually sending scores to colleges. If you can't remember if you already have an account, please go through the "forgot my password" or "forgot my username" process to be certain. Any issues with accounts need to be directed to College Board rather than Faith Lutheran. Paper copies of scores will not be distributed as College Board no longer sends paper scores, however there will be test score interpretation assemblies during advisories in January for further information and to answer any questions.
-       Go to collegeboard.org
-       Click “Sign Up”
-       Go through the process of creating an account
-       When done, sign in with your new username and password
-       Click “PSAT 8/9”
-       If your scores do not appear, click “Add Scores”
-       You may be asked to enter your password again

-       Click “Update”

DEVOTIONAL
When You Pray
When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened. Luke 3:21
When Jesus was baptized the Bible says,‘While He prayed...the Holy Spirit descended...upon Him...and a voice...from heaven...said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased”’ (vv. 21-22). After the crucifixion, the disciples ‘prayed with a single purpose’ (Acts 1:14) and ‘the place...was shaken. They were...filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke God’s word without fear’ (Acts 4:31). Make no mistake, prayer can be hard work, but our most rewarding moments will come from time spent on our knees. God uses prayer to accomplish things that won’t happen any other way. Henry Blackaby says: ‘As we pray our attention is turned towards God and we become more receptive to aligning our lives with His will. He won’t equip us with His power while we’re racing off to our next appointment! His Spirit won’t empower us if we’re oblivious to what He’s saying. He requires our complete attention...“Jesus told his disciples...they should always pray and not give up” (Luke 18:1). If you’ll commit yourself to spend sustained time in prayer...God will work in your life as He did in the lives of Jesus and His disciples ...The fervent prayer of the people at Pentecost didn’t induce the Holy Spirit to come upon them. Prayer brought them to where they were ready to participate in the mighty work God had already planned.’ The Bible says, ‘Before daylight, [Jesus] went...to a solitary place; and...prayed’ (Mark 1:35). And before He chose His disciples, ‘he spent the night praying’ (Luke 6:12). If it took a whole night for Jesus to determine His Father’s will, what makes you think you can do it in a few hurried moments?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me learn from the examples in the Bible that teach me how to pray. In Jesus’ Precious Name, Amen
