TIME TO CHECK CAFETERIA ACCOUNT BALANCES
Please check your Cafeteria Account Balance................ Your account MUST have a positive balance in order to make ANY purchases during Finals. Any negative cafeteria account balances at the end of the year will be transferred to your Tuition account and will be processed through SMART Tuition in June and July. (6/2)
There will be an informational HS VOLLEYBALL meeting on Thursday, May 11th in the Rec Sports room during high school lunch. If you are planning on trying out for volleyball in the fall this is a mandatory meeting. You must see Coach Fisher if you cannot attend. (5/11)
Helpless Hand Off Kits, is the May 2017 charity of the month.
* We are supporting homeless teens and kids at the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY) and Shade Tree Shelter.
* There will be a donation drive during the month of May to collect essential items like travel size tooth brushes, toothpaste, lip balm, combs/brushers, life saver candies, crackers, cookies, protein and cereal bars, tissues, hand sanitizers/wet ones, and $10 gift cards for McDonalds, Walmart, etc.
· Please put items in the large donation boxes placed in different locations on campus starting May1.
· Please take gift cards to the business office.
* Service hours will be available for kit assembly on Wednesday, May 24h , from 3 to 5pm at Faith. Please email ss1910@flhsemail.org to sign up for these service hours.

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:
Summer Meet Up & Eat Up Program (July 3rd – August 11th)— Boys Town Nevada in partnership with Three Square Food Bank will provide lunch over the summer break to the youth served by our Care Coordination Schools program. Volunteers are needed to welcome the youth, distribute lunch, assist with monitoring the youth and clean-up. Schedule: Monday - Friday 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Available Spots: 3-6 volunteers needed daily. Please contact Christine Cisneros at 702.724.8413 for information and to sign up.
In an effort to encourage strong values of philanthropy and community involvement among our student body, the Faith Lutheran HS Student Leadership Team (SLT) along with the MS Student Council will select 5 charities per academic year that will receive school-wide support. Each charity will be assigned a month (Sept, Oct, Nov/Dec, Jan/Feb, Mar/Apr & May) where the Faith Family will be encouraged to contribute to fundraising or collection efforts solicited for that month’s charity.
High school students who would like to submit an application for consideration to support a charitable organization during the 2017-18 academic year, please contact Mrs. Buuck for an application at buuckj@flhsemail.org. Applications can also be found outside of Mrs. Buuck's Office (Office of Student Life) in the aux gym near room 501. All applications for consideration must be submitted to the Office of Student Life no later than May 12, 2017. (5/12)

MOUNTAIN VIEW LUTHERAN CHURCH is having a community service day on May 7, 2017. There are several different opportunities to serve throughout the community. Please visit the link to view the opportunities and to sign up:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." In Philippians 4:6, God calls us to pray to Him about anything and everything in all situations. A new prayer group is starting up to dojust that. The group will meet twice a week on Mondays and Fridays in room 112 at 7am, and the sole purpose of the group will be to pray for this school and those in it, this city, this country, and this world. If you are in need of prayer, whether you are a faculty member or a student, you are welcome to come on Monday mornings starting on September 12 and the members of the group will pray for you in person. If you want to request prayer, but not in person, you can send emails to request@flhsemail.org. If you are interested in joining the group and praying for everything under the sun, please contact Hannah Hines by email (hh8604@flhsemail.org) for more information or to confirm your intent to join. VOLLEYBALL MEETING DATE AND LOCATION CHANGE: any current 8th grade girl interested in going out for HS volleyball in the fall, the meeting has been changed to THURSDAY, MAY 11th at 6 pm in the Arena! Subscribe to God’s Help

Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak! (v.41).
Unsolicited emails are as annoying as a swarm of insects. Perhaps you made an online purchase and later received a stream of follow-up emails enticing you to buy other products. There’s only one way to try to stop them—unsubscribe!
Don’t you wish you could also unsubscribe from nagging temptations that attempt to lure you away from Jesus? While we can’t eliminate temptation, it’s encouraging to know we can subscribe to God’s help in our struggles with sin.
After spending time agonizing in prayer, Jesus returned to the three disciples, who should have been praying with Him. What He found was discouraging. They had slipped into slumber—failing another test (Matthew 26:40). Their deep sleep solicited a gentle rebuke and challenge from their Leader and Lord. Jesus urged them to remain spiritually alert and to continue praying to God for extra power to fight against temptation (v.41). God’s strength would shore up their defenses and help them remain faithful to Jesus, especially in the dark hours that followed.
Like unsolicited emails, temptations keep coming at us in a variety of ways. Though we may not feel strong enough to ward them off, we’re not powerless to fight against them. We have the Spirit of the risen Christ empowering us in our struggle against sin. Because He has defeated sin, we too can experience victory.
Our connection to His power through consistent and persistent prayer will assist us in fighting against our sinful desires and the devil—guarding our heart and strengthening our spirit. Then, instead of giving in to temptation, we’ll be able to resist its pull and stand strong by God’s faithful provision (1 Corinthians 10:13). —Marvin Williams
