There will not be any Spanish tutoring next Tuesday, April 4 because we have a regular start day.We will resume tutoring after spring break.
In an effort to encourage strong values of philanthropy and community involvement among our student body, the Faith Lutheran HS Student Leadership Team (SLT) along with the MS Student Council will select 5 charities per academic year that will receive school-wide support. Each charity will be assigned a month (Sept, Oct, Nov/Dec, Jan/Feb, Mar/Apr & May) where the Faith Family will be encouraged to contribute to fundraising or collection efforts solicited for that month’s charity.
High school students who would like to submit an application for consideration to support a charitable organization during the 2017-18 academic year, please contact Mrs. Buuck for an application at buuckj@flhsemail.org. Applications can also be found outside of Mrs. Buuck's Office (Office of Student Life) in the aux gym near room 501. All applications for consideration must be submitted to the Office of Student Life no later than May 12, 2017. (5/12)

The charity of the month for March will benefit Children's Heart Foundation. We are collecting Easter Baskets for pediatric heart patients and their families. If you would like to participate in the worthy cause, please bring your basket to Mrs. Grant in room 114. We will collect baskets throughout the whole month of March!
Give someone the gift of sight!
Do you have old eyeglasses or sunglasses? If so, Builder's Club is having an eyeglass drive through March 31st! Bring them to Mrs. Walo's room (room 318), Mrs. Bowline in the library, or any Builders' Club member. The glasses will be donated to the Lion's Club, where they will be repurposed and given to people who are in desperate need of eyeglasses and sunglasses. Thank you for your help. 3/31
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." In Philippians 4:6, God calls us to pray to Him about anything and everything in all situations. A new prayer group is starting up to dojust that. The group will meet twice a week on Mondays and Fridays in room 112 at 7am, and the sole purpose of the group will be to pray for this school and those in it, this city, this country, and this world. If you are in need of prayer, whether you are a faculty member or a student, you are welcome to come on Monday mornings starting on September 12 and the members of the group will pray for you in person. If you want to request prayer, but not in person, you can send emails to request@flhsemail.org. If you are interested in joining the group and praying for everything under the sun, please contact Hannah Hines by email (hh8604@flhsemail.org) for more information or to confirm your intent to join. The first informational meeting for the members will be sometime next week. More information on that meeting to come. 6/2

Connecting the Dots
READ Joshua 3:14-17
Meanwhile, the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant stood on dry ground in the middle of the riverbed as the people passed by (v.17).
In the 1850s, cholera was a global scourge capable of devastating entire cities. When a particularly terrible outbreak hit the Soho neighborhood of London, Dr. John Snow realized that the outbreak centered around a certain water pump. Snow then noticed that rather than this being an isolated case, the fiercest outbreaks always seemed to focus around these water sources. By connecting the outbreaks to infected pumps, Dr. Snow was able to establish that cholera was spread by contaminated water—a landmark step towards eradicating its terrible effects.
Connecting the dots resulted in something good by helping to thwart a disease. We can also connect the dots to see the work of our good God.
As the Israelites crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land, they could have perceived it as an extraordinary but isolated miracle—a one-time example of God’s intervention (Joshua 3:17). But as they passed through the water, they surely were reminded of their earlier crossing through the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21-22). God’s providence could no longer be seen as an isolated occurrence but part of a long history of faithfulness. And after they passed through, they erected a monument of twelve stones as a reminder of that faithfulness (Joshua 4:19-23).
Often I perceive God’s work in my life as nothing more than isolated and disconnected occurrences—random situations where things work out in a way I could have never imagined. But as with the Israelites, this isn’t the case at all. God’s faithfulness in my present is connected to all the moments of His faithfulness in my past. And connecting these experiences, one to another, helps remind me that God isn’t just faithful in the here and now. He can be trusted to be faithful in the future and forever! —Peter Chin
