This semester's last Spanish tutoring date will be Tuesday, Dec. 13 in Mrs. Grant's room. There is no tutoring the week of final exams.

In cooperation with Princeton Review, Faith Lutheran is offering Princeton Review's Ultimate SAT course on campus, which includes 30 hours of instruction and 4 full-length diagnostic practice exams on Saturday mornings at 9:00. This course is valued at $1099, but Faith students can take it for only $599. The next available course is an SAT class which starts with a practice test on Jan. 28 and runs mostly Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 PM through March 8 leading up to the March 11 SAT. Attention 8th-11th graders! Would you like to visit the amazing Inca ruins of Machu Picchu? Sail to an island on Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake? Explore Lima, the historic capital of Peru? Or walk the streets of Cuzco, the ancient capital of the Incas? Then join Ms. Gieseke and Mr. Crowder on a trip to Peru during spring break 2018 (March 29-April 7, 2018). We know it is a long way off, but start thinking about it NOW. If you have any questions or need further information, please talk to or email Ms. Gieseke or Mr. Crowder. Stay tuned for more information! (6/25)
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." In Philippians 4:6, God calls us to pray to Him about anything and everything in all situations. A new prayer group is starting up to do just that. The group will meet twice a week on Mondays and Fridays in room 112 at 7am, and the sole purpose of the group will be to pray for this school and those in it, this city, this country, and this world. If you are in need of prayer, whether you are a faculty member or a student, you are welcome to come on Monday mornings starting on September 12 and the members of the group will pray for you in person. If you want to request prayer, but not in person, you can send emails to request@flhsemail.org. If you are interested in joining the group and praying for everything under the sun, please contact Hannah Hines by email (hh8604@flhsemail.org) for more information or to confirm your intent to join. The first informational meeting for the members will be sometime next week. More information on that meeting to come. 6/2

Boys Lacrosse: Every Thursday 3:30 - 4:30 there will be preseason conditioning at Village Green Park. This is a perfect time for boys interested in the sport to workout without having to commit.

Run with It!

God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it” (v.28).
Siobhan Dowd, a British author of young adult novels, died of cancer at age 47. After her death another author, Patrick Ness, was commissioned to finish one of her unpublished stories. A Monster Calls was published in 2011. It was a stunning success, winning both the Kate Greenaway and the Carnegie Medals, prestigious book awards in the UK. In the introduction, Ness says, “I felt—and feel—as if I’ve been handed a baton, like a particularly fine writer has given me her story and said, ‘Go. Run with it.’ ”
God handed the human race a “baton.” Most Bible teachers will tell you that when He uttered those famous words in Genesis 1:28 to Adam and Eve—“Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it”—He was asking humanity to carry forth His creative work on earth. In essence, God was saying, “Run with it!”
To use another metaphor, Jesus is the author of life and He’s asking us to write more life into the story He started (Acts 3:15). Consider that . . .
Abraham wrote life into God’s story by obeying His commands and walking into the unknown (Hebrews 11:8).
Ruth placed her faith in a God she hardly knew and carried the baton one step closer to Jesus (Ruth 1:16, 4:13-22).
With quiet strength, and at the risk of public disgrace, Mary wrote life into a crucial chapter of the world’s story (Matthew 1:18-19; Luke 1:38).
These are just three examples, but there are many, many more in Scripture. God is the Creator, and He asks us to join Him in His creative work. In whatever you do today, ponder this aspect of God. He could have chosen to rule the world and not involve us, but instead He invited us to be fruitful and to govern.
He handed humanity the baton. So go—run with it! —Andy Rogers
