The football game this Thursday night at 7:00pm is an NIAA playoff game so admission is charged to all parents, students and faculty/staff.
The admission price is $10 adults, $5 students/children, $3 senior citizens (11/10)

Operation Christmas Child
The charity of the month for November is Operation Christmas Child. Please pick up a box, select the gender and age group for your "child," and fill up the box with goodies that your child will enjoy. Then bring the box back by November 16. There are three dop-off locations: 1. The Library, 2. Mrs. Walo's room, Rm. 318, and 3. Dr. Nuoffer's room, P61. You may also use a shoebox and wrap it up with Christmas wrapping paper. If you do this, please wrap the lid separate from the box, and make sure you pick up the label from the library to select the gender and age group of your child. COMMUNITY CRUSADER SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY:
Miracle League - an opportunity for those with disabilities to play baseball.
Our League is not possible without our volunteers. One of our most valuable volunteers is our Buddy. The Buddy assists the players in playing their game. Players are paired with a “Buddy”, the Buddy is then with the player the entire game.Volunteers needed every Saturday 8:45 am-noon OR 11:45-3 until the middle of November. Volunteer for one Saturday or all of them.

Attention 8th-11th graders! Would you like to visit the amazing Inca ruins of Machu Picchu? Sail to an island on Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake? Explore Lima, the historic capital of Peru? Or walk the streets of Cuzco, the ancient capital of the Incas? Then join Ms. Gieseke and Mr. Crowder on a trip to Peru during spring break 2018 (March 29-April 7, 2018). We know it is a long way off, but start thinking about it NOW. If you have any questions or need further information, please talk to or email Ms. Gieseke or Mr. Crowder. Stay tuned for more information! (6/25)
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." In Philippians 4:6, God calls us to pray to Him about anything and everything in all situations. A new prayer group is starting up to do just that. The group will meet twice a week on Mondays and Fridays in room 112 at 7am, and the sole purpose of the group will be to pray for this school and those in it, this city, this country, and this world. If you are in need of prayer, whether you are a faculty member or a student, you are welcome to come on Monday mornings starting on September 12 and the members of the group will pray for you in person. If you want to request prayer, but not in person, you can send emails to request@flhsemail.org. If you are interested in joining the group and praying for everything under the sun, please contact Hannah Hines by email (hh8604@flhsemail.org) for more information or to confirm your intent to join. In cooperation with Princeton Review, Faith Lutheran is offering Princeton Review's Ultimate SAT course on campus, which includes 30 hours of instruction and 4 full-length diagnostic practice exams on Saturday mornings at 9:00. This course is valued at $1099, but Faith students can take it for only $599. The next available course starts with a practice test on Dec. 3 and runs mostly Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 PM through Nov. 30 leading up to the December 3 SAT. More Than Knowing

About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him” (vv.1-2).
Many believers in Jesus are well acquainted with the traditional Christmas carol “We Three Kings of Orient Are” by John Henry Hopkins, Jr. What many might not realize is that the book of Matthew never specifies how many “wise men” there were—only that there were “some” (Matthew 2:1). The idea that there were three wise men developed over the course of church history, but that number isn’t universally accepted. In fact, Syriac Christian churches celebrate no less than twelve visitors from the east!
This isn’t the only interesting insight into the mysterious men that visited Jesus. Some admire them for their incredible knowledge. By observing the stars, they were able to determine that a great king of the Jews had been born (v.2). But what’s truly amazing about the wise men is not only this knowledge, but also what it led them to do. They weren’t content to acknowledge that a king had been born. They set out on a journey of hundreds if not thousands of miles to Jerusalem—bearing kingly gifts over dangerous roads. Their knowledge drove them to action and to worship (v.11).
It’s easy for me to think that knowing about God is enough. Far too often I find myself becoming content with spiritual insight, feeling happy that I’ve learned something new from Scripture. But the wise men remind us that true spiritual knowledge isn’t an end in itself. It’s supposed to draw us closer to Jesus our King. Just as the men “opened their treasure chests” and worshiped Jesus (v.11), may we open our hearts, draw ever closer to Him, and worship at His feet today. —Peter Chin
